Re: Woodworking - Fusion 360 alternative, Viacad?

If you don't need surfacing tools then Alibre Atom or Pro would be your best option.

If you need surfacing you will either have to suffer with FreeCAD or buy SolidWorks.

  3. Re: most user friendly software for 4 axis lathe

I think you may be approaching this the wrong way. First, you need to find what CAM is typically used for the type of products you are going to machine and then compare the options.

    My general...

Hi Revida, I have been researching the topic for a while and this is the first time I hear CAMWorks offers a hobby license. I couldn't find any information about this on their website. Could you...

Re: Buy expensive or update 3018?

    Hi kabs,

Both machines are essentially toys. If your intent is "to get my foot in into the laser engraving/cutting industry” you will need to focus on a completely different class of machines. If...

Re: Best alternative to Fusion 360 ??

For woodworking, DeskProto may be a better option. It also offers continuous 4-axis milling. The commercial license is around $1000 and the noncommercial one is $250. These are perpetual licenses....

  11. Least expensive options for simultaneous 5-axis CAM

I am starting this thread as a continuation of the discussion in the 4-axis thread with a similar name.

What are the most affordable simultaneous 5-axis options? I am interested in applications...
  12. Re: Any options for cheap/free 4 axis simultaneous cam?

Yes, the situation with continuous 5-axis is quite different, and Visual CAM may not be the best option in this category. I wanted to stay focused on the subject - cheap/free 4-axis simultaneous cam....
  13. Re: Any options for cheap/free 4 axis simultaneous cam?

Awesome! I assume you are an expert user of Visual CAM. Have you tried the latest Fusion 4-axis functions? I wonder how both products compare in terms of continuous 4-axis milling. What would be the...
  14. Re: Any options for cheap/free 4 axis simultaneous cam?

  15. Re: Any options for cheap/free 4 axis simultaneous cam?

I've been testing the FreeCAD CAM functions for the past couple of days. The results are discouraging. It seems the software is in a very early experimental (alpha) stage. The functionality is very...
  16. Re: Any options for cheap/free 4 axis simultaneous cam?

Hi Peter, good call! Thank you for mentioning FreeCAD. A couple of months ago I installed a copy and went over the features and the documentation. I have to admit I must have overlooked the 4th-axis...
  17. Re: Any options for cheap/free 4 axis simultaneous cam?

I have been looking for the same thing recently. It looks like the situation hasn’t changed much in 2023. There is still no free CAM software for simultaneous 4-axis.
    The least expensive commercial...

    Wiring Optocoupler Isolation Board

    Hello,

I apologize in advance if my question is too basic and the solution too obvious. I have very limited experience dealing with electronic components.

What I would like to do is using...
  20. Re: DLP/LCD printing resin for high dimensional accuracy?

  30. Re: Reliable companies selling Chinese laser engraver in the U.S.?

On your main question - I don’t think such company exists in the US. Especially for machines in this price range.
All resellers of Chinese lasers rely on the tech support provided by the factory.
