+1 here. I still don't think 8 is ready for prime time. I am comfortable with 7 and not compelled to upgrade.

Well worth the money. I went to linuxcnc, but for Mach, this is a great resource including code.... Hossmachine Store
Hey philbur, do you enjoy being the perpetual antagonist?
Did you go into "System Setup" and crank up the settings under "Visualization"? There are several tunable settings like "Animation", "Perspective", and "Visualization Quality". In fact, playing with...
Its Sprut flakiness. It has been doing this for me for the last 3 releases or so.... Not a show stopper, but certainly annoying.
~$100 for a Wildhorse probe, and set it up in its toolsetter configuration.
After you price Sprutcam, the choice becomes easy...
Beautiful! This, and Steve Huck's "Little Demon V8" on my must do list (modeled, not programmed yet), behind finishing my ATC. Maybe by 2020.....
Correct. VM = Visual Mill.
The Sprutcam plugin is just the equivalent of exporting IGS and importing to Sprutcam. Nothing you change in the Alibre model changes in Sprutcam. The Mecsoft Visual Mill (when purchased through...
Well said. Too bad all this had to play out in public in the first place (or ever occur at all actually).
A lot of the items relating to sensors, M7, etc... are very easy to do with addition of a BOB and using LinuxCNC. I have a CNC4PC C11 board, and 3 parallel ports (usual Tormach port, BOB port, and...
The spindle speed at 200RPM happens via the way you create a tool. The fix is to pick an appropriate operation (i.e. create a pocketing operation), open that operation, and in "Tool", define the tool...
Did you verify the parallel port address? Mach3 expects 0x378 by default...
A tension/compression head takes that worry away, especially when actual vs. commanded is that close. I tap on my 1100 all the time, no issues so far.
Absolutely! I am currently doing this for my 1100... Very much like what Ray has done, and Hoss did with his ATC. I'm using proximity sensors to sense the tool in the spindle and the pocket, using...
I have read the white paper, and I understand why Tormach made the choices they did. I was approaching this as more of a "return on investment" thing. You can test and tune to try to max out rapid...
Why do people think this is a good idea? You are pushing the machine beyond what Tormach considers safe and reliable, and for what.. To shave 2 seconds off your total program time? Rapid moves are a...
My experience with 1/2" 3 flutes has been poor on my 1100 for some reason, but 3/8" and under work great. I've tried several things without luck, just get a lot of squeal and chatter in 6061.
Unfortunately not all the antagonists and self declared experts got banned. Let the mob take care of them....
Was I the only one who thought somebody died based on the thread title?
If you're willing to send me the Gcode, I can cut air on my 1100 with it using linuxCNC (I don't run Mach3 anymore), and see if it gives the same error result.
I love it!! First time my wife has smiled about anything CNC related... watching my 1100 play the tetris theme... :D
Don't let one bad experience sway you so much. Keep in mind there are two sides to this story, and you are only getting one of them. There are way, way more positive experiences.
I spent > 1 year...
Do you check the tool path preview? You should be able to see situations like that with a deep z move. That is how I caught my tool table nicely setting tool #10 to length of 0! I have had the tool...
For the money, you really can't go wrong with a wildhorse probe ($100 - $125), and MachStdMill ($69 for pro version). You can probe easily within .001", and the MachStdMill offers tons of probe...
Put it back in the lathe, and relieve the face that contacts the spindle.... TTS compatible. I did that in about 2 minutes, no problems at all. No need for a TTS adapter.
+10 on that Glacern 2.5"...
That's a problem on a Tormach as there is no spindle braking. One could come up with a way to hold the spindle motionless to solve that... Then you are good to go.
You can always go the EMC (linuxcnc.org) route for free (if you have a spare PC, or you are using your own PC already and dual boot it). I have used it several times with no issues, right out of the...
I have had the same experience when using M998 (or in the case of using MachSTDMill and a defined toolchange position). You need to apply the offset using G43 Hx, but make sure you do the M6 Tx and...
Hope he is not VaderSpade's neighbor :D
