Hi Kevin,

I too used the rear cabinet on the side to get my machine closer to the wall. Gutted all of the electronics and started from scratch using a toroid 48v / 120 v transformer (about 50$ from the local...

Great idea, thanks Mac, may have to add that too at some point!
Right, finally got around to making a new set of pulleys to be able to run the spindle a little faster. Essentially a 2:1 ratio (8" driving 4") . In consideration of the possibility of slippage on...
Dave, please post a link to the new thread here too.
Your stuff is major eye candy.
thx
Wow FA, very nice work. So it would appear that the water table does not get all of the soot / crud/ dust, good to know.
What are the 3/4" thick parts for if you don't mind telling us.
thx ...
Rich, as attached.
Let me know if I can be of any other help.

HI Richard,
I am using one of these boards. Do you still need this info?
If yes, I can check for you later today when I get home. Let me know.

austin.mn, thanks, eight months of hobby use only mind you. The sheet alum chip catcher / enclosure really does help contain the coolant!
gotfdirtball , the power supply is something I picked up...
Right. As promised, a series of youtube vidclips showing the resuscitation of the machine sourced on Kijiji for 1000$. Gecko 203V's running on 60V DC with Mach. I am max'd out at about 90 ipm. As...

Right, I'm not familiar with what an inverter duty motor is, can you or someone please elaborate?
Many TIA

Sorry for not responding earlier, I thought I was subscribed to this thread but obviously was not. DOH!
Yes, the motor on this Series 1 machine is a 2hp 1710 rpm at 60Hz, so the numbers I quoted...
Thanks Scott,
I agree, the long motor shaft eccentric belt/pulley load probably isn't helping trying to run this setup fast. I'm thinking that's probably why Mactec cut the covers down and went to...
I am using 203V's for all three axis. I used Roland Freistad's design from Home Shop Machinist for the controller, 58 volts if I recall correctly.
Speeds are really quite good now, much faster...
Being inspired by Mactec's design that I had spotted on a different thread, I had a go at doing this conversion with a poly v belt and shelving the vari-speed rig on my Series 1.
I call it...
Thanks TbcSEOD,
Exactly what I believe we're looking for!
Anybody else swapped out OEM Bridgeport motors? What did you put in? Something in the 900 oz-in or in the 1200 oz in range?
All good info, but nobody answered the original question or suggested what size stepper (torque-wise) to best use to replace steppers on a series 1 machine.
The original question was:
'Can...
Thanks!
A quick question for Fiero Addiction or anyone else who may be able to help; where do you source the multiwire plugs used to connect and quick disconnect the motors to the controller we see in the...
Thanks for the videos, inspiring, great machine!
I agree, can we see a video of your fabulous machine working? Great job!

Hi Dave,
I think the female form for routing the flipside of the wingcore is part of the "800 hours" of development mentioned in the articles that went into the setup that allows Phil Pearson the...
Edo, I don't know about elsewhere but the Encore method appears to be from a single piece of styrofoam. Certainly gets pretty thin at the tip end! But unlike hot wiring, there's no heat so the foam...
Just realized there's quite a bit more on 'how it's done' on the Encore hand launch glider here, page 13 of the pdf file on this link:

Hi guys, did you see the full how-to on how the Encore HLG wings are done in RC Soaring Digest. So simple it's frightening! The key is vacuum. Even the balsa tails are done ..both sides, very cool,...
Hi guys,
FWIW, I have a bench type milling machine running with MachII and servos on Gecko 320's, still on the steep part of the learning curve though.
Hey eloggica, what software are you...
Indeed, thanks a bunch for letting us look over your shoulder as your project has progressed Eric!
Please also let us know when you've had a chance to make some bits and the planned web site is...
