I appreciate the reply but as I said the manual SHOWS the jack screws...we just don't seem to have them. And I would seriously doubt they'd expect someone to align the tailstock without 'em...it's...
My ST-30Y tailstock was out of alignment by a few thou and we simply unbolted the 4 gigantic socket head cap screws, played with the 4 jack screws at the base of the casting a bit, bolted it back...
It's been probably 15 years since I messed with Mazatrol, and honestly all I did was use it as a shell to load g-code programs. Anyway, I have a bit of code that my buddy sent me and I can't for the...
Even though I don't have a bar feeder, I decided to get a liner setup for my new turning center. We'd made custom bushings over the years for the other machines but I figure it's much quicker,...
I've designed a not-too-elegant mechanical solution to getting the motor running on my new ST-20Y while the door is open, but I'd prefer a cleaner one. Preferably purely in software. We have a...
Anyone? Anyone? I'm just wanting to be exposed to the same risk as every manual lathe machinist has been exposed to since the invention of the lathe in around 1300 BC!
Ok, I've been fighting this door interlock issue since 2009 on my VF4. To bypass the interlock on that machine I just push a bunch of buttons, the locations and order of which I can't even describe...
Wow, thanks a ton for all your work trying to explain this. I still have yet to make anything other than just X-Y axis programming work, but as I get time I hope I'll zero in on the ultimate fix....
Wow, thanks for all the effort! Only 2 things still bother me: 1) I can't seem to find ANYWHERE what the equivalent for the mill's G017 Q value is on the lathe. Maybe it just knows based on the...
Ok, I guess what throws me is that I'm not used to seeing simultaneous 3-axis moves for engraving. Normally it's Z down to the depth and then X-Y moves. Of course in G19 we're in the Z-Y plane and...
It obviously works, but are you actually moving the C axis with that program? Looks like it's just moving the three linear axes simultaneously with no rotation.
#500=0 gives the "BAD CODE" message. Crap.
I just type "GOTO10" and I get "BAD CODE". No alarm number, just the message. I've tried every variation of "GOTO" with following numbers that I can think of but nothing works. With or without...
Gives a "BAD CODE" error. Works on my Haas mills, but not on the lathe. Anyone know why?
Hey, thanks! That actually runs on my machine. It's kind of clunky, though...seems like the C axis keeps putting on the brake during Z moves. That makes sense when you're doing serious cutting but...
Guys,
I've got an ST-30Y and I'm trying to engrave on a barrel that's chucked up between the chuck and tailstock. Just trying to put some text along the Z-axis (G19 plane) and it's driving me...
Well, one post I used made the output: G03 X4.1478 Y1.2607 R.125. The other post put it out as: G03 4.1478 Y1.2607 I0 J.125 Think I was using the "R" one...will try the I J later. Thanks.
Some friends just acquired the above mentioned machine and I brought over a test program that runs fine on my Haas machines. No luck, as the arc moves seemed to confuse it....the spindle just tried...
Wow...this LED stuff is exciting...more and more stuff coming out every day! I was hoping that there was just some way internal to the controller that we could bypass the current logic. Is the...
I'll make a deal with you: I won't gripe at you for wasting my time by your being obtuse, and you don't gripe at me for requiring people to read between the lines. :violin:
Finally, someone reads between the lines!! ;)
Yeah, I was just hoping there'd be a clean way to do this but apparently not. No big deal. Yes, LEDs are very cool! Even have them as headlights...
Thanks, Del, but I'm pretty sure these are low voltage switches which just give a digital input to the controller. Routing 110VAC through high watt halogen lights would probably fry them in short...
Let's just say, purely for the sake of argument of course, that there is no way that the controller knows the state of the doors. In this extremely unlikely scernario, I'd like to be able to turn...
Software or hardware, meaning in the controller. Anyone?
Is there a software way to do this? Or hardware? I just want to be able to turn them off and on as I please, as any good control freak would! :p

Well, crap. Just got in a brand new VF-5 and we moved the programs and fixtures over from the VF-4 to run a job and kept getting Z overtravel alarms. Just figured out that the spindle face can get...
Thanks...turns out it was J8. So the instructions are correct, and the nomenclature on the board is wrong (or at least misleading).
I would doubt it, because the switch is just a momentary one and it's connected to a DI on the board. I don't think it would hurt anything to trigger the wrong input, but I was hoping someone here...
The instructions say to connect the switch for the high intensity lights to J8, which is clearly marked on the circuit board (and in the instructions!) as JOG HOOK. Right above that connector is J4,...
