    Re: Coolant Foaming

You can try lowering the percentage. Usually the higher the percentage the more it wants to foam but they also sell anti-foaming additives. What material do you cut?

    Re: Newbie With Facemill Danger..LOL

Try it at 300 rpm with a really slow feed, or 50 rpm if you can. The slower the rpm the better.

Re: Cast heat resistance stainless material cutting

Try Mitsubishi inserts. VP10RT is the grade we used to cut Inconel. I would stay with inserts in the S group for heat resistant alloys.

We made a tight tolerance bushings on a ST10 and the...

You have to be more specific.

There really isn't anything in the post regarding the tool diameter. The toolpaths and geometry for the toolpaths are all set when you program a toolpath with a...

    Re: CNC thread deburr

This is what I have done. It works for OD & ID threads. It adds time to the machining cycle, but it takes time away from having to do secondary operations.

I cut the threads to size. Then I run a...

Moly is pretty abrasive. I have run a few parts made from it. I don't know that you will be able to use a tap. I wasn't able to get more than one or two holes before that tap wore out and seized in...

    Re: Error Y-axis motion encountered??

Add the code at the beginning G12.1. Polar Interpolation. G12.1 turns it on and G13.1 turns it off.

The way the code is being posted is correct. The machine takes the Y values and turns it into a...

Re: Look Ahead During DNC/Drip Feed

You don't have 0 look ahead. I forget the exact amount but I believe pre-1999 its around 30 lines or something like that.

Re: Teensy Weensy Drilling op help?

There is no way 15 ipm will work with a .3mm drill bit.

Max out the rpm and try a 0.0001" to 0.0002" chip load. At 15k rpm that puts you at a feedrate of 3 to 6 ipm. I would stay towards the...

    Re: Inconel 600/625

    I have mostly done 718.

My experience is the sfm has to be really low. like 50 - 150. Can't do huge depth of cuts. Inserts with a neutral rake will last longer preferable the harder grades.

The rotary diameter is the diameter of your part.

For your default plane set the work offset to manual and 0. Duplicate the plane, move your origin to where you want for G55 and set the work offset to 1.

Re: Slightly sizing down a carbide drill

+\- 0.0004 is a lot to ask from a drill bit.

I can't find a drill bit in that range of specifications. The best I can find is a .1705 reamer. MSC part # 03371234, M.A. Ford, carbide.

If you can find a 2 or 3 flute endmill it would work better.

I believe you want G10. I have used it on a ST30-SSY successfully. This won't work on the HAAS Mills, the code is slightly different.

I'm going to say the problem is the single flute cutter. Try a 2 or 3 flute with your feeds and speeds. Single flute end-mills are mostly for routers and\or cutting plastic.

Re: Thread Milling rules of Thumb

5/16" isnt that small as far as threaded holes go.

Climb milling gives you a better finish. Bottom to top for a right hand thread.

For a 5/16-18 you have about 0.03" of thread depth per side....
