I don't think I tried to use the entity summary, I will try it on Monday.
Burr,
Thanks for the info. I have about ten or so files that I need the length, width and height on. Rough dims are fine, as long as I can get a +/- .250" That should be close enough. I'll try the...
I want to pull some dim's off of an .stl file that I downloaded. The parts would be made on a 3-d printer, but I was just looking to find the sizes of the parts, so that I could find someone with a...
I have an stl file that I want to pull some info off of, but I can't seem to find a way to do it. Does anyone have ideas or input on this problem?
You could always keep it, the lathe on V22 worked great, and was better than V23 lathe, IMHO, you never know if you will need it later.
Or, you could donate it to a local school/tech center to be...
That may be the case. I ran it on the V22 Preditor editor and VCNC. I also ran it on the 2007 VCNC and editor also and came up with the same results.
Yeah it is, I didn't explode it I just computed the tool path and then verified it. It's the stingray2.bbcd file that he posted.
I just ran the second file that he posted through Editor, the built in verify and the built in VCNC and everything looked fine, there were no nicks. That's strange.
Burr,
Thanks for posting the pictures. I think your right about it being a spline issue and not exploding it prior to computing the tool path.
I thought it might have been a geometry issue, I...
Hey Burr,
Can you upload a picture with a zoomed in view of the "nick" that CNC is talking about for me? Sorry, I'm trying to catch up on this thread.
Dave
Was this a bobart file?
I would recomend exploding all of the splines, with the reason being that it bit you once, don't allow it to happen again.
Dave
Any time Burr, nice job.
Dave
It looks like Burr already has the fix for you. Burr, if you put 3 points on your drawing with the first being at X0.0 Y-3.1496, the second one at the same Y position and X6.7716 and the third one at...
I'm sure one of us can. Can you post what bobcad is outputting so we can see what needs to be changed? How about uploading your post processor also.
Dave
Also, Make sure that you have a post processor set that you have selected. Can you post your bobcad file, sometimes a geometry issue will cause the processor not to calculate the code.
What milling...
Matt,
Thank you for your response, I'm 90% sure the motors are brushless but I will find out for sure today. I will also find out the combined current usage for the motors and the voltage used.

I have an old Compumill 4000 with a Dynapath Delta 10 control on it. The control has a bad comm. board and I don't want to repair/replace the board due to the cost vs. capability of the control.
I...
Burr,
Like you, I always want to have the software do the work for me. I like the idea of the macro but it's not needed for this type of profile. There are many ways to attack this issue, I would...
Lynn,
I have seen alot of issues with the collision detection on, I always leave it off. You should not crash as long as you know that your tool is the correct tool for the operation that your...
Lynn,
I always use the system tool selection when picking tools. You can change the tool number of the system generated tools by just right clicking on the milling tools and choosing the verify tool...
Burr is correct in how the offset/Gcode works. You just have to remember to put your tool radius into your tool offset page before you run the program, otherwise the machine will not pick up the...
Can you extract your edges from the solid, then use a 2-d profile with spring passes for the stock removal?
Can you post your file or a print of the part?
Dave
Also check your Z position of your line and circle, if they are not in the same plane then it will not trim. I have found that Bobcad will sketch or continue only on Z0. If you have to, change your...
This could be caused by a couple of things. Make sure that you choose the vertical line first when your picking your geometry for facing. Also, check to make sure that the direction of the lines go...
Have you tried a different post processor? Are you leaving any material for a finish cut? Is your finish tool there? Have you tried using the "no offset" to see if it will post that way?
I had a...
Have you tried to only select the sections of the pocket that you want to machine? This was a problem in V22, maybe it crossed over into V23?.
The reason it picks the bottom of the solid is because...
Scott,
They will give you a new activation key for older software, I have an older version wire and had a computer crash and had to install the software onto another computer, I emailed them and a...
Just an update, incase anyone has this problem. My friend called Microproto today, they had him do a few things to his computer and the Mach3 software. It looks like the real issue was that the box...
Rob,
Good thinking, I never thought of trying that. I figured it would not work without a point, but as you said, you input all the info and compute. Is that the way you do your drilling operations...
