    Re: Graham's Optimum BF20 Build

Sorry for not posting much, but I have been plugging along on the mill. I am still doing the linear conversion on my mill and have been slowly working towards that. The conversion will cause me to...

    Re: Graham's Optimum BF20 Build

    Hey,

Sorry for not posting much. I have been putting stuff up on Instagram.
I have been inching forward with the linear rail conversion and have been doing some other stuff.

    Re: G0704 vs BF20

The machines are very similar, but not the same. A kit designed for a G0704 will not fit a BF20L without modification. The hole patterns are different, the x-axis ball screw mount is different, and...

    Re: THE GRIZZ

I don’t think you have anything to lose. The table is no good as is. If it doesn’t work just use a piece of MIC-6 to replace it and reuse the rails.

I was also planning on drilling two holes through the top of my table to get to the mounting screws on the inside flanges.

Man am I excited for this! Everything you guys...

    Re: THE GRIZZ

Based on the linear rail conversion I have been working on I would go from 12.50 inches of travel to 11.86 inches of travel in the z-axis. I think it is worth it and will hopefully fix the issues I...

I upgraded the mount for my Fogbuster and thought I would share some pics of it--really happy with how it turned out.

I know some people have already said this, but putting the limit switch inline with the movement of the machine is problematic. When I am jogging my machine around manually, I run past my limits all...

    Re: Graham's Optimum BF20 Build

The fittings you see in the last picture are composed of three different parts.

I got the push-to-connect fittings from McMaster Carr.

I got the right angle and check valves from:

    Re: Graham's Optimum BF20 Build

I took some time yesterday to poke at the mill. I added check valves on all of the oil lines. They have a 0.5 psi cracking pressure, so it evened out the oil distribution across the lines. I would...

Could you give us an update and post a picture or two? The more pictures the better. It would be nice to see one of these at someone's house vs on the factory floor.

So here is what I used:

    1 six outlet manifold
1 four outlet manifold (I think a two outlet and a...

You have had both the PM-25MV and the G0704, which one would you recommend? From your videos, seems like the PM-25MV is the better option.

Re: One shot oiler for BF20 milling machine

A one-shot oiler is a pain in the ass. I would focus on replacing your spindle motor. That will be the first thing that fails on your machine.

    I did a one-shot oiler on my BF20. Here is a pic:

For your quill bearings did you use open, shielded or sealed? Just curious, mine are shielded. I think I have some miss alignment between the top and bottom quill bearings. Before I...

  28. Re: G0704 Spindle Mods and balancing ... Very cool!!!

That is good stuff man. Just nice to hear someone had success with tapered roller bearings. I think the real secret is the grease. That should make all the difference
  29. Re: G0704 Spindle Mods and balancing ... Very cool!!!

Hey Icvette, I think it is a little bit of everything you mentioned.

I think the grease I used was too viscous and I probably over packed the bearings. There may have also been a touch too much...
