Sorry for late reply but it is a 2 pole 400Hz spindle. The Vfd that I am looking at can run in Sensorless Vector Mode. Which would be a wiser choice between these 2 drives?

Thanks Karl, but I have never been accused of being really smart, however sometimes things work out for the better and hopefully that is the case here.
Really did not think through the VFD prior to purchasing the spindle. Should have gone with a 5 hp spindle, however if I can make it work with a 10 hp VFD I will do that.
I purchased a Jianken 5.5 kw (7.5 hp) spindle and would like opinions on which VFD to purchase for the unit. The spindle is 220v 14.6 amps. I only have 220v single phase available. Would I need to...
Not likely to cut any metal, but will scour ebay for a suitable chiller.
Good to know. I see now that there are a few threads on the subject. Where are most purchasing their units? I am ordering a spindle from China, maybe I should source the chiller there as well.
If I do decide to go with a water cooled system, has anyone tried the chillers that are available? I really do not like the idea of a bucket of water and the heat that would be generated by a spindle...
