  4. Re: Help understanding Electrical for Clarke Vacuum Former

I would very much doubt that the 240v machine would draw twice the current.
I would think its still about 10 amps as the 120v.

Re: ISSUE with thermoforming clear acrylic sheets

I am not sure what it is either.
I know my friends dry the sheets in ovens for quite some time, before forming, are you drying your sheets?

The red cap or bung on the top of your vac pump is that vented to the air if not that should not be in that hole as I suspect that is a vac vent hole.

    lexan film

Usually you will find the cover film that sticks the most is the one to remove and does not like being formed on the lexan.
\You are lucky you have a choice we only have two and both are so so.

Sorry not much help on this one.

    material type

Can I ask as to why you have used polycarbonate?
    Acrylics form much easier.
Are you sure your competitor is using polycarbonate.
Polycarbs can be difficult to form and hold a good shape.
  17. Standoff

What do you call a standoff.
I thought webbing was caused by too much material and was fixed by reducing the size of the plastic sheet that is being formed.

    air holes

I have no idea the answer to your question, but I am of the opinion that you only need holes under the shape you are forming.
I can not see why there is a need to put holes outside the shape.

    smooth platen

I am bewildered as to why you want a smooth platen.
    Can you tell us why?
