    Re: Power Draw Bar build

I spoke to JT about the drawbar upgrade and the bearing load, and he said they have a customer who has used the design for 3 years with no bearing issues. They use a double row high angular contact...

    Kawazuki,
Yes, we are pretty spoiled over here. A drive through any middle class neighborhood and you will see homes with 2 or 3 car garages, often so filled with toys that the 2 new cars are...

    Re: Replacement VFD

If it's a 2014, it should be covered under warranty, but probably not for lightning strikes. Those units might have an internal fuse protection, and if you are going to replace it anyway, it...

    Re: Mach3 to Linuxcnc

You might look over on the Tormach forum- Their early machines were all Mach 3 based, but the new Path Pilot is a linux system, and there has been a lot of discussion about it.

Our machine had 4 pole inverter duty motors wired for STAR configuration. We did not find any significant loss of power throughout the RPM range. I have read some of the theory, but unless you are...

Re: Increase the speed of the mill

There are several options depending on what RPM you are looking for. You can probably get up to 5-6000 with the current setup with some slight mods, but if you want 10-20,000 speeds you will need...

    Re: NEW MILL TURN ARRIVED

Shopmaster/Shoptask has always been good at listening to customer ideas and adding them to the machines whenever practical. You might find some more pleasant surprises when your machine arrives.
  10. Re: Problem with stiffness and quill movement

The pins are threaded- I think 5MM- you can just screw a bolt in and pry up on the bolt head, or put a little spacer over the pin and use the bolt as a puller.

Here is a video link of a simple job making delrin bushings on the mill turn. Looks like an easy setup and simple set of gang tooling- looks like they could turn out a few hundred per day easy.

Kinda odd way of doing it- I would have first done the z axis alignment, because after he loosens his clamps to put the shim under, he'll have to redo his original work. I would have put a parallel...

Wow- If I did a weld like that, I sure wouldn't post it for the world to see. What machine are you working on? That looks like one of the old 90's units, not a Patriot.

I think the original point got lost early on when one poster assumed that the screws were worn. I doubt that wear is the issue on a hobby machine - it's more likely just undersized balls from the...
