I am not intending to have to open the cabinet up when this thing is done. I was just playing around with some different wiring options. The last one was running a jumper to the contactors so...
  2. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

Last night I tried it with the power and logic always on and just wired the e-stop input to the control so it could send enable and reset signals. DMM had suggested trying this in our last...
  3. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Pl9AEp_C2Al6bG7SZxhxc-a0AiOtMX1r/view?usp=drivesdk

This is from DMM. It’s not standard wiring practice In a mill for sure. It’s what they recommended to me though....
  4. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

Yes I suppose it very well could be a timing problem with the Oak. I've posted it over in their forums, maybe someone there will chime in.

I just decided to try it with the logic power bypassing...
  5. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

I rewired it with logic routed through my spare (4th axis) contactor. This allowed me to try turning it on whenever I wanted. Twisted all the wires up as well.

About all I can tell right now is...
  6. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

Loosing the encoders wouldn’t be a big deal if I never hit the e-stop I guess. Things not working the way they are supposed to bugs me but you are probably right. I would be making chips with it...
  7. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

Yeah the filters are for the logic power lines only. DMM schematics (for the Oak specifically) showed separate logic filters for each drive, as well as separate contactors. I like the idea of...

  9. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

I’ve got everything pulled out between the line reactors and drives now. I’m trying to figure out a way to put the filters and contactors back in that will facilitate switching the wiring to the way...
  10. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

Single point drains have a place. You look like you’ve been studying up on terminating RF transmission lines.

I’m going to rearrange some stuff in the cabinet. I really wanted to terminate the...
  11. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

I don’t think it would have a chance to happen if logic was wired through the e-stop too. I’m pretty much ready to give up and go that way.

Maybe I’ll give it a try and move on to getting the...
  12. Yeah I still have them wired around the...

Yeah I still have them wired around the contactors. I’m more concerned now that they are faulting out after the control is running. Maybe I should just run it all through the contactors and get used...
  13. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

Well no dice there. They turn the right direction now but still fault out. In fact, it seems the more I play with them, the more they are faulting out. I'm getting faults now when I play with them...
  14. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

I used a solder sleeve to attach a small wire at the drive end, it's attached to one of the ground lugs on the front of the drive. That lug is grounded through another larger wire to the ground bar...
  15. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

I spent a few hours messing with it last night. Shielded cables for logic power don't help (but I have some really nice cables now), neither did getting power from elsewhere in the cabinet or outside...
  16. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

Okay I think I'm following now. I won't implement anything that would cut power to the logic circuit prior to shutdown.
  17. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

Okay that’s similar to what I’ve been contemplating this afternoon. Are you using separate controller outputs for each of the DMM contactors or some other kind of delay? I think I’ve seen small din...
  18. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

I'm not sure I'm following. I am pretty much doing that right now but it doesn't work with these drives. I need to somehow stage the logic power to come on after the control has had a minute or so to...
  19. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

Well DMM is saying it's likely the floating enable input causing the trouble (prior to the Oak coming online and asserting it's level). They said the Oak needs to be up and running before the drives...
  20. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

This is a little frustrating. It seems like something that should be able to be handled through the servo enable signal. I'll see what DMM has to say. I know there were some fairly recent changes to...
  21. Re: DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

That would be an easy enough fix for sure. I'll try that out this afternoon.

Does it cause any issues with the machine loosing position if it's interrupted during a run? That was the only reason I...
  22. DYN4 Overcurrent, but only on initial startup

Another over-current issue, but only when I initially energize the machine.

    DYN4 1kW 86M servos + DYN4-H01A2-00 drives
    Centroid Oak controller
    All power is 240V

Logic power is on as soon as...

    Update:
The DMM servos showed up in 6 weeks just as they promised. I have them temp mounted now and have moved on to the other electronics.

Attached is a pic of the x-axis install. They fit with...
  25. Re: what vfd to buy for closed loop control of 7.5hp Yaskawa spindle motor?

I think Centroid will accept that input and display a virtual load meter on the screen, at least the Oak & ALLIN1DC controls.
  26. Re: what vfd to buy for closed loop control of 7.5hp Yaskawa spindle motor?

The automation direct G4 series will handle larger motors with single phase input but don't seem to have the option of adding an encoder card. They put one hell of a derating on them for single...

Re: Anyone use Centroid control on a VMC?

Thanks Marty. I saw that and that's actually what turned me on to Centroid controls. Not sure how willing they would be to sell me their PLC programming but if I get stuck it's worth a try.

Re: I bought a Haas Mini Mill basket case

Mactec I thought those had a 3 phase motor on the spindle?

I guess some pictures of the spindle motor and servo tags would go a long way here. Your z axis might be a different servo than the x and...

This was out of an old VF-1 I’m converting to new single phase electronics. I was thinking VF0 and not mini when I posted. It’s a monster of a transformer that weighs about 75lbs.
  30. Re: 2012 haas mini mill 208-240 volt transformer/electrical cabinet photo?

Not sure if it’s compatible but I just pulled one of those “polyphase” transformers out of a VF1. It has the 4 sets of inputs to adjust voltage to 240.
