  1. Re: Sterling Silver - Turning (lathe) speed and feed rate suggestion

    awerby, thank you for responding!

I searched online extensively for specific numbers but I couldn't find any. I found some speeds and rates for mills. Unfortunately nothing for lathes. Casting...
  2. Sterling Silver - Turning (lathe) speed and feed rate suggestion

Can someone suggest turning speed and feed rate for sterling silver?

I intend to turn some very small parts with intricate details on a mini tabletop lathe using carbide tools.

    Re: Redsail on eBay?

It is impossible to knockoff Redsail because they don't have their own designs, nor any unique patented features.

Most of the black-red painted machines on eBay are assembled by Shenhui.

Re: Question About EasyMark by Uli

    Martin,

Would you mind posting some screenshots of EasyMark? I've never seen the interface.
  5. Re: Can someone please tell where can I buy one of these ?

Contact the factory that made your machine. They should be able to provide you with spare parts.
Mine was Shenhui. They even made some custom parts for me.

Re: Looking for advice on buying a laser

Alibaba is a market place allowing you to connect directly with the manufactures (skipping the middle-man). It handles the transaction and has tools helping with the contracting process. The shipping...
  7. Re: Looking for advise on cutting thin paper/fabric material

To avoid the yellowing of the edges you have to cut with 600-1000mm/s (depending on the type of paper). To penetrate the material in one pass at that speed typically requires 60-100W laser power.
    In...

Re: Looking for advice on buying a laser

I consider buying from eBay riskier since you don't have direct contact with the original manufacturer for support, warranty, spare parts, etc. Yet, hundreds of people buy lasers from eBay. Buying...

Re: Looking for advice on buying a laser

Check the old threads in this forum. There have been many similar discussions.

Neither Laguna nor Jamieson make laser machines. They resell only cheap (2-3K) Chinese machines with insane markup...
  10. Re: First Laser Cutting Machine purchase - any pointers?

About DC (aka glass) vs RF - your budget (15K) is not sufficient for a machine with an RF source powerful enough for cutting. For cutting wood and opaque acrylic a DC leaser will be as good as RF....
  11. Re: First Laser Cutting Machine purchase - any pointers?

Which model comes with this cabinet? Could you please show a picture?

Nice looking showroom! The interior architect you hired definitely knows what he/she is doing. I wish more dealers do that...
  12. Re: First Laser Cutting Machine purchase - any pointers?

Comparing laser machines based on the power/size/speed spec would be like comparing restaurants based on the number of calories you are getting and how quickly you can swallow them :)

    Basically,...

Re: Hello and possibly wrong place to post

    Welcome to the forum!

Most of the laser machines are very accurate and could be an excellent choice for making small, intricate products (with some limitations). However, you should keep in mind a...
  14. Re: First Laser Cutting Machine purchase - any pointers?

It is a higher class machine. Everything will be better - construction, components, software, quality control, support. Currently, GCC offers the best cutting machines in this price range.
    The...

Re: Is this tube 80 or 100w?

Since you know the brand maybe you confirm the wattage by measuring the length of the tube. For some reason, I can't load the RECI's website but I remember they had a spec. sheet with the dimensions...

Re: Is this tube 80 or 100w?

See if you can find the brand and the model number of the tube and check on the manufacturer website.
It is possible what you see on the tube label (102.3W) to be the peak value, not the actual...
  17. Re: 50w Raycus Fiber Laser Cutting Machine to cut Brass and Silver 0.8mm sheets

I never had a chance to compare different brands side by side but I know that on the Chinese market the IPG (Russian) lasers are considered the best performing and most reliable fiber lasers. Also...
  18. Re: First Laser Cutting Machine purchase - any pointers?

In this price range, GCC would be your best option. When requesting a quote ask them specifically for a DC (glass) laser.

    Re: Anyone here using Lightburn?

Were you able to test it with a camera?
  20. Re: 50w Raycus Fiber Laser Cutting Machine to cut Brass and Silver 0.8mm sheets

The speed of cutting would depend on 4 factors - the lens (spot size), wattage, frequency and number of passes.
If you got a quote for 50w Raycus for under 5K it means the rest of the components...

Actually, 35K sounds like a good price for this configuration.

Sino and Sunny are the main brands. I am more familiar with Sino. Their top model is SG7220. It is designed specifically for the...

Ok, so they quoted you the most expensive possible configuration. What is the total cost? As far I know Rofin doesn't make laser sources (tubes). They probably mean Coherent which are made in the US....

  25. Re: Recommendation for laser engraver $5k or under

I agree with Michael but it is not just the tech. support. Glowforge machines are way too expensive for what they are. Their target users are very entry level hobbyists yet they are priced as...
