I built my 4x4 CRP from some of their parts and sourced my own 8020 n stuff. Its easy enough to do if you stick with what they have laid out. That said the little $ you could maybe save is not worth...
If you have v-carve pro their gadget for doing dove tails on the flat works fairly good. You can check out the little box I made. (not as nice as a true dovetail but it functional) ...
looks like I've been slacking on posting stuff for a while.
1. First up a Last supper I did for my Mom a while back.
2. More Pine wood cars from last year race
3. a couple of lithoplanes I did...
The waste container on them do already have a trap door to dump the waste.
Huh I may have to steal the wife's old dyson...
I would guess this would be your best guide that I've seen.Alexandre G. Navarro: Guitars for CNC It sounds as if your new to all aspects of cnc. I would suggest as others read, read and read more...
I ran my crp 4848 with the G540 nema 23 package on the same circuit with my harbor freight dust collector with no problems.
Profile linear rails are the most precise and robust but come at a high price tag.
This video explains how to calibrate the steps per inch.

Joe is a great person! He helped me cut some sides for my old Microcarve machine.
Are all the squares actually squares? Meaning are both legs the same size?
Did you actually check the move distance of each axis? Its pretty easy to do in mach 3
Did you put loctite on the...
You can try out desk proto for free to control your 4th axis. DeskProto >> products >> DP Entry Edition: the lowcost version
That said you could pretty easily hand code the program if your making...
If you take a look at my thread I have the same parts as you. What I did was clamped them together and then used a transfer punch to mark the holes and drilled out the back of the K2 Z axis. I kept...
Dehumidifiers work wonders in garages! I ran one in my garage for years before it went belly up.
It may piss you off what Bucknaked wrote but there is a lot of truth to it. One thing I've learned with cnc is it takes a lot of time and $. The learning curve is steep and it takes time, your...
I've had the nema 23 (381oz) & G540 for a couple of years on my 48x48 and have no regrets. I'd buy them again in a heart beat. I've had the rapids up to 500 but normally run at 400 for rapids and...
Spend the time and read, read and read here before you build something. CNCrouter parts Nema 23 are pretty powerful and do a great job. Accuracy comes with the quality of components you choose. $...
If your in need of that type of production why not just build a lathe?
Not bad at all, everything is just bigger and faster
Looks great Joe! Awesome work as usual. Is that aluminum planking from your old router?
Check out Microcarves BBX design. I believe you can build that to have a 12"x12" cutting envelope. Microcarves machines rock! I started out with one and would build another one if needed.

Why not just have your gantry extend over one side of the router table and have your rotary axis there instead of moving the whole table.

IMO your $ would be better spent on more precise gear rack.
I believe ahren lists his machine a little smaller than what it actually can cut. My 4x4 can cut around 50" x 51" With the crp designs it would not be very hard to add an inch or 2 more for travel. ...
First off let me back up and say I really like my CRP router. I use it often but for hobby use only and it does a good job at that. The gear rack that I purchased for my router from More gear was hit...
From the looks of that part it would fit on a small mill like a G704. For production runs I would look at converting a small mill or buy a commercial router. If your business is in it to make $ don't...
Is your steps per inch off on the Y? Did you actually measure the steps per inch or just use the default?
FWIW I used 1/2 plywood on top of the extrusion and then 3/4 MDF on top of that for a spoil board. I've been very pleased with it.
Great looking frame! FYI I have my X&Y the same as you have set it up as well. I also home to the same spot.
