  1. Re: Mach3 no longer works in Windows 10 as of version 1803

Can Linux be run under a VM in Windows to drive a CNC? Or will Windows "immediate instructions" make that unworkable? Modern hardware should be fast enough to do the emulation, but somehow MS seems...

I've bought about 20-30 TTS style collets from DarkOn: 20 x DARKON ER20 PRECISION COLLETS | eBay
  5. Re: What type of machine would I need to mill these?

These are all easy on a small 3 axis router. If you don't now anything about gCode, a CAM program will likely be your biggest hurdle.

Here's a decent machine, above your budget: PROBOTIX V90 Mk2...

Re: STL help on V6 please

The stand alone BobCAD handles STL files exactly the same a any solid model, very slick. This is one of the last reasons I stick with it rather than going to the SolidWorks plugin.

Re: STL help on V6 please

I was curious about this. SolidWorks doesn't work with STL files of any decent size. They "show up", but are just visual - you can't edit, select points, etc. BobCAD works great with STL. So the...

    Re: stl to solid

STL files are not usually too large, and if they are, they can be reduced (with a loss in some detail). You can define a square as 2 triangles, so a total of 4 points. But you can also use a...

    Re: stl to solid

STL files are point clouds, there is no "easy" way to "convert" them to solids. There are programs that allow you to create surfaces off the parts, but they are quite spendy (DesignX is one). ...

Re: Why no one has done an EG lathe so far?

You will find FAR fewer lathe builds than mill builds on this forum in general. Since there are only a handful of completed mill builds, it is only logical there are no (or very few) lathe builds (I...

Re: CNC - 4th Axis Build Log

I can't tell, but if you are blocking the through hole with the motor you may want to modify that. There will be times you want something to stick all the way through.
