    Re: Controller Wiring Type

For control enclosure wiring it is definitely customary to use stranded conductors, there is TEW/MTW etc, but if packing a lot of conductors in a raceway, I use TR64 control wire, the insulation is...

    Re: Camsoft installation

It's been a few years now, when I used Galil cards of all stripes, but generally I tested them with the basic Galil programs such as DMCterm etc, this way you can see if the card is recognized and...

    Re: Chinese lathe electrical help

What is the nature of the overload device? Probably a simple thermal breaker, you may have over taxed it, now needs replacement, I doubt if P.A. carries spares, check the make model No. and rating...
  4. Re: New CNC from China Need to hook up 220v wire and plug, to plug in.

You need to find a local Electrical distributor that reps one of the large terminal companies and maybe supplies to any of the enclosure builders.
In a pinch, I have made my own Star ground plate...
  5. Re: New CNC from China Need to hook up 220v wire and plug, to plug in.

The reference you are looking for is NFPA79, Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery.
You might be lucky to find one on the web, there was a slightly older version in PDF out there.
    For...
  6. Re: Need help identifying salvaged DC motor with " Bayside Precision Gearhead "

    With the gearhead?
If just the motor, sure, but limited in rpm to ~2krpm.

Re: Help me choose a linear actuator

I would have thought you would have had enough suggestions so far from all the sites you have posed the question on.:p

  8. Re: Need help identifying salvaged DC motor with " Bayside Precision Gearhead "

Not sure of the white wire, but a test to the frame of the motor would confirm it.
If it was thermal cut out there would be two conductors.

  9. Re: Need help identifying salvaged DC motor with " Bayside Precision Gearhead "

Those motors were originally CMC motors and typically were 24vdc to 48vdc and fitted with a Renco encoder.
If you measure the rpm at 12vdc you could extrapolate the maximum rpm for the typical range...

Re: arduino grount to chassis ground??

The power common terminal of a USB socket in a Tower or Desk Top PC is connected to earth ground via the Mobo power supply common and the board ground plane, which is connected to the chassis and...
  11. Re: Advice On Using 220V Machine With 110V Wall Outlet

JohnField For that price, I would certainly expect some set up instructions, voltage setting etc.
    Probably comes 220v by default.

  12. Re: Advice On Using 220V Machine With 110V Wall Outlet

The listing shows it is dual voltage?
    120/230v?

  13. Re: Getting single phase 220v and 110v from 3 phase 220v

Pivotalcustoms The T1 & T2 is passed right through after the initial contactor, so there should be no reason why you could not use one of these for a moderate 120v current as it does not influence...
  14. Re: LEADWELL LTC-15 Fanuc 0T Parameter loss

You will need to obtain them either from someone with the same machine, or the OEM/MTB.
They are unique to that build of machine.
You will also require the 9000 option parameters.

Re: Wiring Chinese 220V power in US

Yes, the N terminal is used for one of the live conductors, no neutral.
Yes there should be no continuity between N and frame, ensure you have a good earth ground.

Re: Wiring Chinese 220V power in US

The neutral label refers to locations such as UK, Australia etc.
In US (N.A.) the 240v is derived from both live conductors, L1 & L2, as others have said, you do NOT use the neutral.
    Outlets such...

    Re: Linear encoder recommendation

There is a video on the Galil Motion site by Dr Jacob Tal on tuning a dual encoder/scale, where the PID loop is paired with both.
Registration is required to see the videos, however.

  20. Re: wiring inside the electronics cabinet

If using military style (MS) connectors, or similar, I generally use one pin for the shield, if needed, and take the enclosure side connector shield pin to the ground connector or star point, which...

Re: Can I use (Stranded) #8 wire?

I would agree you need to find out if the neutral is earth grounded at the panel, what does the legend stuck on the back of the panel show as to any earth reference?
Modern code is the N should be...
