What you are looking for is probably High Density Polyethylene Sheets, you can buy them from 1/8 tickness to 1" tickness and the sheet are usually 4'x8'

The one from 8020 are very different. They are stronger due to the form, they have round corner and have some line to make then stronger. You can put nylon connector to connect with other tube.

I'm not sure about what is the acme rod vs normal one but you can find cheap ROD 1/2 or 1/4 or 5/8 at Home Depot or Canadian Tire.

They are much cheaper compared to the one find online :)
