    Re: 60" x 40" new build

2" facemill with 4 flutes testing on aluminum. My max cut is about .015" before spindle runs out of muscle.

    Pretty happy with the finish.

    Re: 60" x 40" new build

I flat topped a stainless steel slide like butter. I think it has plenty of power for my needs.

I have no complaints about the finish either. Amazing for ebay parts and scrap steel!

    Re: 60" x 40" new build

The only issue i had with the spindle is when i flipped the motor to the topside, the belt was misaligned and had to shim the spindle gear up a bit. Easy fix.

I also had to take an die grinder and...

    Re: 60" x 40" new build

My guess is the thin belt width (9/16") and gears are the limitations on motors horsepower sizing.

I will see if i can find some gears that will support a wider belt and then think about upgrading...

Yes, its 60 hz and there is a fan blade in the back of the motor. I have a 110v 1/2hp motor i can adapt if this one does not work well.

When i said adding sand, i meant like an 80-90% sand and 20-10% epoxy mix. As in i am not trying to make it look like granite.
