John,
If your familiar with PP formats and know what you want, with a little trial & error, I was able to write what I wanted. It all depends on your willingness to experiment. (save often :) )

Hi John,
I use Dolphin with my Centroid Acorn. After i wrote a new (milling) PostProcessor for it, it's quite convenient to use now. i don't use it for the lathe.

Thank you Andre. There was only one Centroid PP. It should be attached. replace the .doc extension with .ppr.
I am using V14. The Centroid PP (milling) that was supplied doesn't put in any M8/M9 codes when requested. Is there a way to get a Centroid PP that will utilize cooling M-codes (M8/M9)? I emailed...
Since we're wishing :) :
A drive that takes encoder feedback that will fault when you miss steps.
Don't get me wrong. Flashcut is not the end-all control. It is NOT a high dollar commercial control. It does have its limitations, and I work within those. It is missing some basics such as being...
User base is quite large. It just works! Not really a lot to discuss. What do you want to do? If you want to experiment and get frustrated with something, get Mach 3/4. If all you want to do is use...
A better question would be, "who would consider it correct in the first place?" If your drill is ground correctly, there shouldn't be an issue. JMHO
I started out with V10. it was "ok" for most 2D/2.5D stuff but it did have some basic shortcomings in toolpath utilization. For the price, and the post processor support it was worth it. I upgraded...
If you use a mechanical brake with your VFD, and you don't have a breaking resistor, you will trip out on OL. You may trip it out just changing speeds fast if your using the mechanical belt speed...
What is it your trying to accomplish? Are your machining speeds too slow now? A big limit is your 2hp drive motor.
For reference; I have the original steppers on a BOSS 6 retrofit with MACH3. My max...
That looks like a VERY well done retrofit! Very nice looking machine! Good luck with the sale, someone will get a nice setup w/tooling!

Ditto;
My BOSS 6 maintains repeatable .0005 consistently. I have the original steppers. I must keep everything relatively slow too. Rapids are <100 ipm, and I keep cutting to <75 ipm. I'm not...

1. The directions are just a starting point. you must adjust the offset as the diameter changes.
2. Make sure you are on the correct angle. Cobalt are usually 135 deg. vs. 118 deg for HSS.
I use...
I guess it's not worth the chance of damaging the spindle taper.
Thanks

Can CAT40 tools be run without keys and not slip? Does anyone know if there is a maximum horsepower that they can/should be run without keys (assuming you can safely)?
I don't want to ruin my...
Thank you Al & Jacek,
I think I have enough information now to make a more informed decision:idea: right or wrong I have more information now.
I am going with the 2000 rpm servos with the lower...
That's the piece that is missing. Is there a typical torque value above "rated torque" that would be used to gauge what a max torque value should be?
I realize machine design plays a big part but is...
AL,
Thank you, I just didn't have any kind of feel for where/how long they normally operated on their torque curve.

Any servo gurus?
I'm replacing the servos & drives on my VMC. The current servo/drives spec out at: 2000 rpm, rated torque = 4.78 N-M, Max torque = 25.5 N-M
I've found some replacements, specs:...
Probably obvious but, drill the holes before you form the radius.
Your drive is a 15hp drive. It should run on single phase. Try it, it shouldn't hurt anything. If it doesn't, you can set your parameters to disable the phase loss ckt. It will be trial and error to...
It's amazing what a difference a larger COLOR monitor makes! It's like having a a new control that you already know how to use! Good job. Thanks for sharing a good idea.
Can version 11 generate tool paths for imported IGES/STEP files?
I'm going through a DM4500 with a CAT 40 taper. Does anyone have the dimensions of the pull studs for tool holders?
Thanks
Dean
Blake,
I swapped a machine (Bridgeport retrofit) over from Mach to flashcut as you are talking about. I would suggest the following:
1. Down load the manuals for flashcut and the signal generator...
I assume you are referring to the stepper motors. My machine will still hold very tight tolerances (.0001). BOSS 6 and newer have 2.5/1 gear reduction for finer resolution (BOSS 5 and older are 1/1)....
Of the three you listed, only the Grizzly has speeds low enough to cut steel, barely. Closer to 100 fps would be better. The other two are wood band saws.
