I’m going to put an “arm” “disarm” switch in the link. Thanks for explaining the risk.
Why is it not safe. What’s going to happen?
The VFD has 12v to all control pins. And the 0-5v would only be live when the m2 command is given and only proportionally between 0-400hz
Thanks for that mactec. So, is it unsafe because I’m making the VFD “always on” I’ve also set the minimum run time frequency to 160hz so it is essentially turning itself off when below that right?...
Right! I’ve managed to crack it now……for all of you that need to get this working here’s what I did.
0-10 and ground went to 10v in and ground.
Because on the askpower VFD all connections are...
It dosnt work lol. I’m bloody lost
Because I have both a 0-10 (I’m using this) and a 0-5v output that will only be active with start stop commands can I use the 0-5v as the forward signal? Ever done this before?
My speed control is working my VFD receives the speed when I send command and resets to 0000 when I send the stop command
I’ve tried to link ground and fwd as a hard link and even that’s not setting the spindle going. Surely that should work. Or do I need to give power too? My VFD has power already supplied to each of...
I have 0-10 PWM and 0-10 analogue on this board. So I’m ok with speed control.
So I’ve spoken to the OEM of the board, the DIR is redundant and no longer driven….great.
So am I doomed to this VFD not being capable of on/off when coupled with this GRBL board do you think?...
@mactec54 do you know what the VFD relays do?
This will work, not because I need the frequency PWM, because it has the two relays built in, is this what you intended? So I feed it with a PWM signal and it fires relay one which gives it strt...

This is the details of the Coolant pins. If I wanted to use this to run a relay, I’d have to alter my post processor to add the m7/8/9...
Thanks guys, my board has 0-10 output and I’ve got it setting the RPMs with that, with the HY branded VFD it only needs two wires but this one certainly needs a signal to FWD. I’m just figuring out...
If my VFD has a normally open relay built in, can I connect FWD to this to achieve the same thing? Sorry if that’s a silly question but I don’t have a separate or integrated relay on my control board
@mactec54 I’m hoping you may input on this based on your knowledge of this VFD
Also, there is a DIR output on the board, should they go to FWD?
This is my control board

This is the manual for the VFD ...
Hello guys, I’ve been a long time lurker in the forums and I can tell some of you are seriously talented in this area but all that aside I cannot find any explicit advice so I’m forced to ask what...
