    I had planned on something similar, The sides would "frames" made of roughly 2" x 3" x 1/4" tube. So they could be welded up higher to avoid chips.

    Is there continuously supported round rail, that the mounting leg of the rail is stout enough to only contact the frame metal at the fastener locations (every 3-6" ??)

    I did search the trems Meshcam and 4th,, only thing I found was a vauge discussion about 4th axis support being dropped in one of the upgrades??

    I am back on my design phase of making a CNC router that will be a dedicated gun stock router.(hobby grade).
    I have access to a full metal shop so I was going to build a heavy/rigid metal frame....

    3D CAD for gun stock design

    We are finalizing a design /build of a 4 axis router built specifically to route out gun stocks from laminated blanks. That is all this machine will do, typ turn out "one of" custom carved stocks.

    Yes, in the relm of things a gun stock is not a large amount of carving, And while I do not want to fall asleep carving a stock, I do not have to squeeze the last 10%...

    Working on specs for this machine, specifically rough routing plywood that is made with 1/16 colored birch layups, the blanks would be roughly 2" thick.
    Before I can think about X, Y, and Z speeds...
