Can the credit be applied to an upgrade from express to advantage?? I'd do that in a minute.

Cheaper and more torque.

If it does turn out to be a RF problem here might be a cheaper solution for you. My RF room for the MRI is actually quite simple. 24ga galvanized steel sheet pressed on both sides of 3/4 mdf. ...
You will be missed Benny,
I hope this is not a "long" absence for you here. You will certainly be missed. Best wishes to you and your journeys in life. Have a safe trip and return soon.
Alan T....
Check with your local building code to be sure. I'm not sure its relative but I have a 37,000 lb MRI Scanner and the engineer spec'ed an 18in slab. It would also be affected by the soil...
It would not be very accurate. Ton's of backlash. You would also have to change the motor drive.
Don't let this be discouraging to you. There are people who seem to be able to make a go of a small scale cnc related business. Rab Gordon in Scotland (Rainnea Graphics) is a very good example....
One thing you may consider is to first try and make the CNC pay for itself as a Hobby business that you do on the side while earning a living in a more conventional job. I tried this route with my...
Hello,
http://www.mini-lathe.com/ has a very good tutorial on threading on the Mini-Lathe and if you have never seen one of them, Jose Rodruigez ...
:p Sorry, my bad, did not read the post completely. I just have not seen a Mach1/2 Post for DeakProto. I thought it was a Post problem.
What software are you using to generate the gcode and are you using the Mach1/2 Post for that sw package?
Sorry,
You did not mention the name of the Software in your question??
Unless the milling table you bought is the size of the smaller Proxxon mills then I seriously doubt that unipolar printer steppers are going to move it without some "Major" gearing down which will...
I am thinking of possibly getting XR Express for 2 1/2 work. I own and like Visualmill for 3d and also own Dolphin Partmaster. Visualmill is a very capable program but I think the 2.5 D tools are...
Thanks,
That was a great source of information. Unfortunately I have a headache from reading it. :drowning:
Just kidding. Thanks for the link.
Thanks for the reply. Thats about what I expected but wanted a more educated (than me) answer. I might reduce the work envelope and keep the screws to 3/4 in.
Thanks,
Alan
Is there a hard fast rule on the diameter of the recommended ballscrew or leadscrew versus the size of the machine it's being used for. I would assume that a true bench sized mill would use a 3/4in...
You will be better off buying some cheap bi-polar steppers, and using a xylotek or gecko's. 5 phase controllers are not cheap and without the controller the motors you have are not usable. Sell...
Check with Dan Maunch at Camtronics. I bet he has what you need.

Dan Mauch has what you need. I have bought several steppers from him. I highly recommend him.
Just a quick guess, but the onboard video card could certainly be a problem if its not disabled in the bios. Also, you are using a 6 year old 16meg card in a pci slot. I would get at least a...
Give us your computer specs. MB, type and speed of processor, type of video card ect.. Also, what operating system are you running and how much RAM.
What are you using for Drivers?? Most conventional drivers, Gecko's, Xylotec ect.. are compatable with Mach1,Mach2.

What operating system are you using.
You might consider Dolphin Partmaster or Vector for the Cad/Cam and Mach2 for your controller.
PTC Wildfire 2.0 is an alternative. You can get a non-commercial/hobbiest version for about $300.00 from journey ed. Its the Student learning version but costs a little more for hobbiest personal...

Should get you started.
By George, I stand corrected. That spindle setup and a couple of short slides and you are in business. Looks like it would do a good job for engraving.
If the cuts are straight, just use a table saw with carbide blade. I do it all the time and have cut up to 3/4 inch plate with no problems.
