I have a 2.2 that I run with a bucket of treated water. It has always kept it cool for me. I was considering putting a chiller system I it but have yet to find any reason to do so.

I got one of the 2.2 WC spindles and I am running it with a Hitachi VFD. I use it to machine acrylic an other polymers and I am happy with the results.

You could use polypropylene or polyethylene to do that. Its light weight and is available in sheets. Its flexible so it wont crack or chip like the polycarbonate or acrylic.
