I have been in touch with them because I am wanting to upgrade from my current TC12-22 to a new machine. They are not too communicative for a company selling a $7000 machine, which doesn’t inspire...
I was just thinking if you wanted to buy 2 separate machines to do the work you are looking at $15-20k used....
A very important consideration for an expensive machine!
Depends on your budget, if you must get the job done in CNC and your budget is under $15k, I think the ShopMaster is about your only option.
Talk to JT, he will try and sell you one but generally...
Interesting find. Out here in the high northwest desert it isn't as much of a concern but when you let something sit 10 years between uses, yes, rust prevention is necessary. Thanks.
Keep us informed about your use of this machine. I bought a used 1220XL from JT in 1999 and have had good dealings with the company. I really want to upgrade someday so will be following your work...
Great to hear a good review, you hear so many bad ones you'd think SOMEONE would start making good ones. Keep us posted on projects and uses for the 6-jaw.
The Workshop Practice Series of books looks interesting, I have seen other places offering them too, I might check them out, thanks for the tip...
Like I said, I don't have one yet, but I have read many posts, some positive, got a lot of work done and paid for their machines quickly, some really negative 'never buy from them again', I think if...
I too am looking to upgrade to a new machine, I haven't had any trouble with the company.
Bought my ShopTask 12-22TC from them used in 1999 and bought a bunch of tooling, all works well (for the...
I was referring to LtDan's picture, the subject of this post.
This is interesting and deserves a full build blog, one photo is not enough for me.
Listed as 2 HP, but many say the actual torque capability (if that is the right wording) of the drive can be quite a bit less. I have an older ShopTask rated at 1/2 HP and it works OK, but you must...
Thanks for your reply toroco, I appreciate a 'user's' view.
The 'History of 3 in 1 Machines page is dead too (linked off the order page)...
I tried to make this brief but it just wasn't possible. I did avoid political rhetoric but these issues are complex. I would not post such things on Facebook but a machinists forum I think would be...
Well shucks, if it was a snake, it woulda bit me! Looked back at the page clicking at anything that looked like a link before I saw that right after the first paragraph!
Interesting looking at the...
I am in the same position as you Andy, just have a 12-22TC and am thinking of upgrading sometime so will be following this thread...
I know this is an old post but I see you have not received an answer yet.
I am familiar with the Shop Task/ Shop Master line but not the Eldorado name. This page from the Internet Archive shows...
That looks SOLID. Well if there was ANY problem with rigidity, it's gone now!
I appreciate you posting these things JT, I have an old 12-22 I bought used in the '90's and if a couple projects work...
This is REALLY cool! Every machinist needs an engraved card to show off!
Looks great! And the video link is pretty cool too. I hope to upgrade from my ShopTask 12-22 someday and if you use flood cooling you gotta have something like this!
So true! I have been imagineering machining projects for years and will start soon several on my old ShopTask 12-22...
I remember a guy who owned a machine shop when I was just out of high...
