Any reason you don't want to adjust the thrust bearings to minimize the backlash?

  3. Re: Problem with Face Operation in Conversational

Did you try using spiral instead of rectangular. This has always started in top left corner for me. This will climb mill all around the part and reduce any burring to a minimum.

    Tormach battery need

My 1100 is old enough that it came with mach and I upgraded to PathPilot. I read about cnc machines loosing their parameters when a maintenance battery dies. Do these machines have one either in the...
  6. Re: Drilling Holes Through Copper with Extreme Accuracy

I haven't had to work with copper yet.. Any difference between a straight reamer or possible a spiral down reamer to push the strings out?. I suspect keeping the part cool would also help. When...

Are you moving the table for each part or just changing the part with a fixed stop?

If moving the table, try approaching the center line from the same direction every time including probing one...

A few years ago I had Kaspersky anti-virus that came on a computer I bought. Even back then it seemed odd to have a Russian program when people there were hacking USA businesses. Switched at next...

Here is a link to NYCNC youtube channel.. You will have to search for it but he has a good video on setting up the gibs.

    Re: Conversational Lathe Parting

Not everything Grizzley sells is junk but always a compromise to the market segment. I have a 14-40 that is shipped at 2800 lbs and is just as good as the 1340 DoAll (harrison) I used at work. They...

look up inverted parting or upside down parting tool. Supposedly it tightens up the cross slide by lifting against the dovetails instead of pushing down.
Use shortest tool protrusion also. If...

Re: Tormach PathPilot WISH LIST (;-)

I recently bought Alibre/meshcam. Still not proficient at it but at least I can use it in my shop. No WiFi out there.

Re: Tormach PathPilot WISH LIST (;-)

Milling a radius not just a circle or boss with 4 radii. Starting a slot (keyway) from outside instead of middle.
I have requested these but they seem to be all in for new machines.

  16. Re: Tormach PCNC Series 3 Upgrade to Centroid's Acorn

Does acorn have more or better features than PathPilot?
I think it would take a lot of tuning up to rigid tap on a Tormach.

Re: 1100M vs. used Haas Mini Mill or TM-0

A big draw back with my Tormach is the y axis travel, only 9 inches. If you want a 6" vise I would turn it sideways which I have done, but mostly get by with the 5" . I think the newer ones are 11",...

failure to come out of E stop
