In the back cabinet aaaaallllll the way down on the left side bottom are 2 fuses. One is a 250v MDA-6 ceramic time delay. YEP...that's the one.
After all the years of service that little bugger...
I believe I've lost the 120V power in the back cabinet. Seems like the 230V is going in.
Just looking to find where the 230 is converted to the 120 and I may have found the problem
Electrical help needed.
Been running for years no problems to minor problems.
Now....nothing when I go to start it up.
I have power to the knife switch...bottom of the 3 fuses off the switch....
Thanks for the input. :)
Thanks for your input. I may have jumped the gun a bit and should have done my homework first before coming here and asking for help.
After posting the thread I opened up the cabinet and started...
Was running good and then out of nowhere.....poop.
Spindle still runs but lost everything on the control panel. Just went dark on me in the middle of a simple program.
Still running all original...
Thanks for the reply.
Yep...everything original (steppers) except the plug to hook into my computer. It's worked fine for 15 yrs plus since I've had it. It's not used daily but probably more like...
Here's what is happening.....
When I start the machine up I usually leave it sit and warm up a bit before I start moving any axis around.
Lately it seems like It's taking longer to "straighten"...
If I'm understanding you correctly, no your machine should not arbitrarily change coordinates when you "load" a file. It should remain at where ever your home is before you load any files to be run....
Moved the G91 into the sub and prelims in air look good. I tried that yesterday but have put it on the wrong line. Another friend also helped straighten me out on it.
Much appreciated Superman
Thanks for your input....
I'll give it a stab a little later today and see what I can come up with.
I had another tell me that's where he had put the G91 and didn't seem proper to me but I give it...
My first attempt at writing a subroutine using M98 and it's a fail.........

Click on the Ref all Home button....then hit the zero buttons next to each axis....click the ref all home button again to make sure it cleared all previous values out. If it didn't you may have to...
Waiting on a new back plate. This baby is as snug and smooth as it was when it left Poland! :D

Thanks to all your help I'm half way home. Just need to remember how it all goes back together now!
Not bad for a 400$ find.....not one metal...
Thanks Jim...
Ok...now I feel stupid.
I forgot to loosen the set-Tru adjustment screws to remove the back plate. Once I did that it basically fell off!
Heading to get some metric bolts to jack the...
Thanks for the heads up....I was looking for someone breaking a bison and didn't see this one.
I'll have a look...maybe give me a pointer.
Gotta love the plug and play retailers!
Appreciate your insight. I searched youtube up and down and couldn't find you guy cracking a chuck. Usually find any and everything on there. ;)
I picked up a nice used bison and I'm trying to get the back plate off to change out and would like crack it open to do a total clean up on it before using it.
I've beat this thing with a rubber...
The only other thing I can think of or suggest would be put a dial indicator on it and give it a command to move 1 inch and see how far it moves.
If everything in Mach is set in inches mode AND the...
Ok....if you have zero at the top of the piece you're cutting....you will need a - (minus sign) in front the 2.5 for it to plunge into your work piece.
example........ G01Z-2.5F10

Stuff like that can make a sane man crazy!
I'm not an expert but....you're running mach 3?
Will the machine move when you type in a MDI asking it to move in a specified amount?
Can you show a...
Suggestion....
Try ebay and get a dedicated xp comptuer for cheap there. I've bought several refurbished ones to run machines.
The short answer is yes it is a little complicated to set the units if you don't know where to go and how to do it. But it can be done. It is in Mach in the configure setting. Are you sure your...
Thanks appreciate the reply.
After I made my original post I found a couple post elsewhere recommending the smooth stepper also. Good to know.
I purchased stuff in the past directly from Offshore...
Been looking at a 4 axis machine as an entry level project. For a little less than 3K I'm not expecting industrial precision but just curious what lies ahead for a purchase like this?
They all say...
Have a 4 axis controller but only use 3. It's an older control box and support @ xylotex tells me they don't make the chips for these boxes anymore. He's waiting for new parts in maybe mid July to...
ger21.......
If I wanted to go that route would I start by using the pin numbers in the A? Turn that off and use those pins in the spindle?
Thanks
