  1. Re: Changing cad cam software what is everyone using?

It can't, but it can do 90-95%. And it has very good CAM.

Same thing happens with work offsets, if I recall correctly.

    Re: High School CNC Help!

Those water cooled spindles are $150-$200. Nothing special about them, they are just cheap Chinese spindles.

Camaster owners are about as loyal as they come, and they have by far the highest...

    Re: High School CNC Help!

I'd put the Legacy last, by a good margin. They use round linear shafts, which you won't find on any quality machines. They handle much smaller loads than profile rails, and aren't nearly as rigid.

  7. Re: High Volume CNC Routing 5mm Phenolic.. Cooling the tool?

The material is probably very abrasive, and cooling likely won't help much. A coated tool might help, but ideally, diamond would give the longest life by far.
If heat is really the issue, then I'd...

    Re: XML files

    Basically, yes.

The .xml file contains all of your Mach3 settings. So if you switch to a new .xml for the C10, then you lose all the previous settings for your current setup.

    Re: XML files

You can't use multiple .xml files. If you're adding the C10 to your existing system, you'll need to manually enter the port and pins.

.xml files go in the Mach3\ folder

Looks like it's losing steps in the Y axis. Do you have backlash comp enabled?

    Re: Vectric problems! again.

    Check your spam filter.
And perhaps post something on their forum. Vectric has the best support you'll find, so something is wrong somewhere.

Re: Choosing new steppers for DIY machine

You might be better off with 400-600oz Nema 34's, with 2-3mH inductance.
Your 5mm pitch screws will limit your speeds with bigger motors.

Most chinese boards do not support probing properly, and won't work with most auto zero macros.

    Re: AXBBE to VFD

Need to see more of the VFD manual, but it looks like this to me:

AO1 from AXBB to 10Vin on the VFD
5V0 from AXBB to GND on VFD

Wire a relay to O1 and 24V0 on the AXBB.
    The relay should be...

Re: Overwhelmed and want to build a 4x8

Yes, that's why most use rack and pinion. The inertia on big, long screws requires powerful, high speed motors.
Big industrial routers that use ballscrews, use AC servos, and large, high pitch...

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

When you run the auto zero initialize, it sets the value of the plate location. So it will be set whenever you use it.
The box on the bottom is the feedrate, which you can change whenever you want.

Typically, a catalog from the manufacturer will have dimensioned drawings and specs of the end machining. This should give you the info you need for the overall length. You're going to need to have a...

Version 3.043.066 is known to be very buggy. The version on the Machsupport website is now 3.043.062. I would try installing that version.

    Re: UC300ETH ETHERNET MOTION CONTROLLER?

You'll need a breakout board for each port that you want to use on the 5LPT board.

Or, you can use a breakout board like the UB1 which the UC300ETH plugs into.
