I was able to remove the dead chip from the Xylotex board and I now have 3 axis instead of 4.
Obviously had to reset up in Mach 3 and all works fine again !!

Wow ! ! !
While your at it you could convert it to a Mill/Sinker EDM System. (Really Radical !)
What do you think Alex?
Sorry I haven't posted for so long but I have just been so busy. My...
Did you swap your cables over also? Doing this would eliminate an y bad connections between the motor and drive.
You say your motor is OK. Have you removed the connector to the motor and checked...
I think what Al is trying to tell you is that you need the control model because the parameter may be different depending on the model of the control.
I have encountered this in the past. If you are surfacing with your program in mem mode does your machine hesitate? If so do you have a high speed machining option on your control ?
Usually when you go into a hard overtravel you have triggered the hard overtravel limit switch. Normally there is a button that yes is usually hidden a little so it doesent get used by mistake that...
When you swap everything over do you generate the same alarm on the axis you swapped to? If not you may have a bad signal wire somewhere on the axis giving you trouble.
Dynamechtronics sold a line of quick change tooling for the ER-16 taper. I have pics in my original documentation for the machine so be careful what you get but I think they are pretty much...
Hi,
I am curious to know if your control runs windows in the background or not. We have an NH-4000 (2005) MSX 501 and it runs Windows.

:confused:I have a 4 axis board that just quit working.??
I purchased a 4 axis kit with 425's from Jeff a couple of years ago and have hooked it up to a small mill. It has worked great and have had...
Hey all,
I haven't posted in quite a while but I will be giving an update soon. I can say for now that my machine has been working fine. ;)

[QUOTE=TravisR100;581702]Has anyone got the maintenance manual for this machine in an electronic format?
I dont have electronic files but I do have complete hardcopies for the 2400 and could...
You do want to tap smaller holes as fast as possible as you will have less tap breakage using this method as long as you use the proper center or spot drill, drill, then tap. I have been using FORM...
I dont know much about the wiring on the Makinos but I can remember back in the day working on one from the early eightys with a 6M Fanuc control and a BT 50 Taper and what a workhorse it was. Makino...

I am not exactly sure what material the 'Supernut' (as Dyna calls it) is made out of but it is 2 seperate parts with an O ring in middle of them according to my drawings. I really dont think they are...
Hi Alex, I am using 425oz/in steppers from Xylotex.
I dont know what my constant torque would be yet at say 10ipm. or 50 or 100 because steppers lose torque as they gain RPM (further testing...
Nice work Alex. Its nice to actually see the machines running once in a while. You can finally sit back and watch the machine do the work you.
I have been doing some testing with my steppers to...
Yes my leadscrews are driven directly from the steppers by couplers that I made.
I have 1 nylon spur gear in excellent condition that I will never use and if anyone that is using THIS thread to post on and is still using the original setup is welcome to have it if they are...
How fast or how many in per min and how much torque do you expect or hope to get after you have it all hooked up ?
Kel1
Yes my machine does have thrust bearings on the end of the leadscrews and they are very important to have. I dont know what kind of a system you are using to compensate for thrust but dont rely on...
Anybody ever try making rubber dampers of some sort before ??
Re: : 'One more thing...what are you going to do with the 4th axis? rotary table?'
I will eventually make a Rotory 4th Axis with a 3 jaw chuck or and a collet system so I can do 4 axis machining...
Its been quite a while since I have posted any updates on my progress with the conversion I am doing with my Dyna 2400 mill so here is where I am at so far and a few pics.
First of all when I got...
I will eventually make a Rotory table for a 3 jaw chuch or a collet system so I can do 4 axis machining. I would make it so it would run horizontally.
Kel
Thanks for the files AC . You made really nice brackets. Did you draw anything else up ?
I recieved my Xylotex 4 Axis Kit today so I guess its time to get to work on this project. I have to make...
A PDF file would be nice to have if you can convert it also.
