Yeah the grasshopper motion is just amazing to watch.

Thanks Joe, You designed and really nice machine in the 2006. It's amazing how acurate a wooden machine can be. It is really a testimate to the thought you put into this design. If I ever have...
The machine is still working great. I'm still using the same setup as described earlier. The gecko g540 is great and seems to be a workhorse. The machine is pretty accurate as well. I just did some...
I think for about 20 bucks you can buy a PCI card that has the Parallel port you need.
If you go into config-> General config. You will seen in the lower right a section with CV settings. Play around with "stop CV on angles > XXX. Check the box if it is not checked and try 89...
http://www.machsupport.com/documentation.
there is some info on cv settings on mach's documentation section. You might play around with some of the values to see if it makes a difference.
If you are using Mach you might check the CV settings. Sometimes this causes the issues you have described.

One of these is actually some vinyl work (Thanksgiving plate), but I used my machine to cut the vinyl! It works well for that too!
Just thought I'd give an update on my Joes 2006. In my last post I described issues with cabeling, etc. I replace all my cables with heavier guage wire and continued to have issues with random...
You've done a great job. I'm sure you will enjoy your new tool (toy). I have really enjoyed mine.
You may also want to check the computer that is running Mach. XP has things running in the background that often causes problems. I dismissed this for quite awhile and had issues for almost a year....
Sounds like a neat idea with the epoxy.
Cnc router parts has some cables with 20ga conductors. I started with some cheapo cables and had issues. I ended up making my own cables with some multiconductor wire i had on hand. It was 20ga as...
I originally built mine with mdf, but they did not hold up. I drilled and tapped the holes then applied ca to the threads. I still split some of the parts. I ended up replacing all of them with...
Looks really good. You will be making chips in no time. I attached the sides to the bottom in exactly the same way. I've never taken it apart, but I do have the option.
When you get to the...
It's been awhile since I built the JGRO, but if I remember there were alot of 1/4" fasteners throughout the design. Some were important and others, not so much. I know that others probably have...
Yeah it's going to be tough with screws. I used a brad nailer just to hold it together until the glue dried. You could possibly just use glue and clamps, but it would be tricky getting everything...
Looks like you are well on your way. Do you know what electronics you will be using? Best of luck on your build.

Looks like a great idea. Both the wood and plastic ones seem to fail over time. The threads just don't hold up. your design would also give you plenty of room to get a wrench on the adjustment...
I started with a JGRO and moved to the larger Joes 2006 almost immedately. The JGRO is a good little machine and it provided great experience in the DIY CNC hobby. Make sure your steppers and...
You might consider MDO (medium density overlay). I haven't used it, but it looks like it would be stable and it is water resistant. The commercial sign guys use it alot.

I don't have a cut list, but I did build a JGRO. I also built a wooden clock using the machine. Very capable little machine. Best of luck. I added a few pictures for inspiration.
Attached is a nest I did for my 2006. I cut all the parts on a Jgro.

I think I've narrowed it down to a cable from the controller to the z axis. I was able to turn the failure on and off by switching cables...crazy.. I actually don't think it is a faulty cable; it...
Hey guys. I need some help. I just replaced my supertech controller with a G540. It is powered with a 48V PS (all purchased from Keling) Nothing else has changed (table, motors, software, etc). I...
If you are having binding issues at each end then you likely have misalignment as you stated. I just made the holes in my bearing holder biger to give some slop. I moved all the way to the edge...
Attached are various files I used to build my 2006. I agree it is a bit confusimg at first, but once you start the construction it becomes clearer. if you ever have a question about a dimension or...
I just cut the longer parts in two pieces. I then just glued them together. The majority of the forces are carried by the top and bottom "skins" of the torsion boxes (much like an I-beam) therefore...

You can probably use Mach3. You will need a CAM software to generate the gcode as well. Supercam combines both cam and contoller software. Give Dennis a call and he should be able to help you. He...
