Interesting idea; I like the fact that it's focused on doing CAM operations rather than being some sort of general-purpose drawing application.
Why did you choose to do this in Flash, though?
I believe that the Emachineshop software offers an "Export" option from the File menu that lets you export a DXF file.

I never was able to get my machine to cut 1/8" acrylic in 1 pass using the supplied software.
I did eventually replace the controller board with a Xylotex board and the software with EMC. But then...

Do you think eBay item number 150205811563 would make a good replacement? It's a closed frame type as opposed to the current PS which is just a big circuit board inside the machine.
It's not the mirror alignment: the meter is barely registering any power and the sound made by the power supply when the laser is firing is much quieter.
The drop off in power happened over the...
Recently, during a moderately sized run of parts, my Artsign laser started losing power. Eventually it could barely scratch the surface of the acrylic I was working.
I don't get any greater power...

Try SheetCAM for a low-cost CAM for lasers.
By the way, does anyone want to buy either of the following:
1. My old control board.
2. A copy of NewlyDraw with dongle.
Acrylic and plexiglas are the same thing.
One way to verify that the IR is being blocked is through the use of a digital camera. The sensors in many digital cameras are sensitive to IR, so you might be able to see the spot that the beam...
The latest info:
I decided to swap out the control board for a Xylotex stepper driver. I'm using EMC to control the machine. This gives me a lot more flexibility, including allowing me to control...
Very interesting! Can you tell me exactly which wire to check? Can you post a photo or diagram?

I have a brand new problem with my Artsign JSM40 (very similar to the Rabbit and all the other Chinese lasers).
The machine has been working fine for a while now, though I haven't used it much....
You'll need a powerful laser.
This comes up every now and then here and on other forums.
Building a waterjet could be quite tricky. You need very high pressure pumps, hoses and fittings, 30,000 psi and up. Plus a big catch...
I hooked up my big dust collector; we'll see what that does.
I've been playing with the software settings a bit, trying to get the laser movement slowed down. I created a 6 inch x 6 inch square in...
MacGyver: I have the speed set to "1" in the software. What that number represents, I don't know and the software doesn't say. It won't let me go any lower. I will measure the speed with a stopwatch...
apriorius: Thanks for the tip. I just that the ground wire was hooked up to something, but it was just floating loose. I've hooked it to the outlet ground.
I checked the grounding at the outlet with an outlet checker from Home Depot, and it reports that the grounding is OK.
Checking other stuff now...

MacGyver: What speed should I be running at?
I checked the laser alignment again and it looks spot on. The lens housing is not getting hot.
I'm going to try some of the software settings. It appears that there are two different 'Model'...
How close does the workpiece have to be to the lens to be to be in focus?
I've got my Chinese laser, an Artsign JSM-40 ( a 40 watt machine that's very similar to the Rabbit HX40) up and running, thanks to McGyver and others on this forum.
Now I'm trying to figure out if...
