Well, it's running. I put it away for 2 years and last week I dusted it off and after a bunch of blood, sweat and tears it finally runs!

Nice!
Have not tried again. Decided to take a break. I will remove the head and check the valves. I may make a gauge to check compression. I know at least one cylinder is leaking by somewhere (probably...
If the bore is too large fuel draw can be a problem.

Hmmm. It won't quite run. It's trying. I get that fantastic colman fuel aroma and it fires once in a while. I think the carb is too large (it's off a os .035). I might make a new carb before I...
Trying to get the damn ignition system to go! Tried a hall effect. Worked for a bit then died (before I could get the engine running). Going to plain old points now. Hang on, won't be long.

Uhm, he is not going to actually build it. He just started the thread and now is laughing.
Very nice 6 cyl tho. Nice looking crank. Hope your next crank is a keeper.
Eric
Depends. If using ace converted, then yes, you need to offset. I did this on a new layer.
Oh Snap! Getting closer.

Speedy, the block is 4" long. One of the pics shows a quarter in there somewhere.

I make my share of mistakes Nick. I just don't tell anyone! Your attitude is good. With each part, you learn something, even if you learn what not to do. Those are hard lessons learned but stay...
Keep going Nick! Your projects go like mine. I am always adjusting the next part because the last part didn't come out just right!. You only need to make the very last part right and all will be...
Getting there....
Actual intake manifold. Pretty tricky part.
Here is the model of the intake manifold...
Nice, thanks for that.
Last night I assembled the engine block with crank, rods and pistons, oiled it up and cranked it over on the lathe for a bit to loosen it up a little.
I still need to make:
Intake manifold...
Well, a new job and an addition on my home later and I am back at this project.
It needs to be connected to the z - home input, not the z - limit input.
Eric
Well,
I got the flywheel made....
Must be a real shaker.
Eric
Actually it's not that close. If the VFD says its 1000 RPM, you are probably running under by up to 10%, depending on the torque. The less torque, the closer it runs to the actual freq. Some...
No feedback. A VFD varies the frequency. The frequency sets the speed. Sorta like a stepper actually....kinda.
Eric
I would say forget the pressure washer and get a fish pond pump.
If you must use this pump, vegetable oil may not be good, it will go rancid. I would try motor oil.

Was thinking about building one. I want to continue to build my 2 cylinder IC engine, which has been on hold for a while due to too much other stuff going on. I thought this might be a good...
No need to secure anything with pins etc. just tighten it up and it won't move.
There is too much play between the rack and the slot to provide any accuracy for head movements.
I just set the...
Here's a hint to help get you started. Stop buying stuff and start building it. You don't need to worry about the PSU or the drives until you have something mechanical that's close.
Eric
No you don't. I just DLed two PDF's from there...
E
Nothing wrong with that! Good job.
