Re: BenchTop Pro or Base Model?

I think I could readily fix it but the risk is too high to take the single decent machine I have offline and see how it'll all fit together as I've seen some bodged factory work that might not be...

    BenchTop Pro or Base Model?

All I ever work with is wood (may want to try some basic aluminum parts on an unpaid basis)and I generally raster finish pieces so acceleration is the most important premise.

    My 6040 machine works...
  3. Interesting Electrical, Mechanical, and Tool (CNC) areas in Hong Kong?

The in-laws won't encourage me to go to Shenzhen (totally understand), however, I am hoping there's a district where I can check out a few CNC routers, some random machinery, electrical parts, etc.

  4. [For Hire] CNC Operator in Research Triangle Area. CAD, CAM, & Setup Experience.

    Hello,
I have been lurking here for years, managed to start a small business, and sell roughly $200K of products I made on John's Microcarve machines.
However, with college done, me being married,...
  5. Re: Finding a job in Austin, Texas--Hobby to Self Employment--To being employed.

My goal is to work for me, myself, and I--but I realistically know that's not always the case. So if I have to do something I'm not loving or hating then I'll take it for $15 an hour. Realistically...
  6. Finding a job in Austin, Texas--Hobby to Self Employment--To being employed.

I have been self employed five years and it's not been much but held my life together. I started this hobby when I was 18, then it grew over 7 years, and I've been with my folks the whole time while...

Re: Best software for future employment

Lots and lots of Koa wood. $15 a BF on a cash deal to $50 a BF. It's what sells but my final product is such a niche and it's hard to see what's next. I'm loosing business by making them too small...

I would like to remain self employed, however, there are slow times, and I made some poor financial choices so I am more cleaned out at the moment. With a future spouse that'll likely happen and...

    Best software for future employment

I am 24 years old and about to finish my four year business degree.
A major distraction is I make my living with CamBam, Meshcam, Blender, and Linuxcnc...
It's paid for my college and a few trips...

Re: Any experiences with CNC 6040 ROUTER?

Thanks I'll see what can be done here as it's about time I fix this and press on...
If the block is even somewhat compatible I can get it drilled out here, and indeed I've noticed sellers offering...

Re: Any experiences with CNC 6040 ROUTER?

Unfortunately I was busy, the supplier was kind of pathetic and never offered to help.
I could have taken out a Paypal claim but I didn't and I was too busy to put the squeeze plus the supplier...

Re: Any experiences with CNC 6040 ROUTER?

Any thoughts on my old bearing backlash issue?
The thing has a lot of slop due to the bearing and I can't fit in a double bearing to fix it.

Re: Any experiences with CNC 6040 ROUTER?

BAH I have never done this before.
The cables use a foil shield with some stranded wire, so I suppose the shielding might break some but the stranding keeps it good.
I have got the entire thing...

Re: Any experiences with CNC 6040 ROUTER?

I ordered only a frame and paid more than the usual sum for it from a decent firm.
However, the Y axis only uses two bearings, and one of them was bad to begin with. However there is a pocket for...
  16. Re: Anyone own one of these? microSD card control box

I bought a machine from a firm which owns the ChinaCNCzone website. The 6040 I have isn't perfect, as the bearings they use to retain the XY ballscrews have a lot of slop, and the design doesn't...

Re: Any experiences with CNC 6040 ROUTER?

From what I am reading I need two angular contact bearings on the support/drive side of the screw, and the other end is supported by a single bearing which permits the screw to expand, and contract...

Re: Any experiences with CNC 6040 ROUTER?

OK so what is the proper terminology for the right bearings?
I'm sounding dull, but I own a couple Microcarve routers and they were perfect in compassion.. so I've never dealt with this before.
    I...

Re: Any experiences with CNC 6040 ROUTER?

I tried tightening it down some with not much luck.
When it arrived all the axis would backdrive with ease, I tightened up the nut for the Y axis, there is more resistance, and less play but still 5...

    Ballscrew Reballing and lube help.

I just recieved my 6040 frame, however, I took most of it apart to see what I'm dealing with, and ignored my better judgement with ballscrews.
Eventually, I put all the balls back into the internal...

    6040 bearings, dust, and repalcement

  24. 6040 CNC Machine dust resistance, and dust shoe

I bought a 6040 and it's on the way from Shenzen.
I'm told they work decently, as I did pay $900 for it shipped via DHL, and went for a larger firm as I knew if I paid more I won't get such a...

0.8kw and 0.4kw spindles from China?

I know it's a bit of a gamble but I see a fair amount of air cooled 0.8kw spindles for about $180 shipped. Also, my first choice I'm really hunting for is a 0.4KW spindle for a small lighter duty...

Re: 3040 Chinese machines good frame wise?

I have heard those brushed chinese spindles aren't very good to begin with.
I'd probably just run a .8kw or maybe .4kw vfd spindle for it.
I don't do dust control on my current machine, but I know...

Re: 3040 Chinese machines good frame wise?

I see what you mean as the shafts are chromed, the bearings are unknown, and the ballscrews lack grease nipples usually.
They seem temping but I'm into it being fast, and running it at a decent clip...
