Re: Designing a new router called Brevis-HD

    It travelled very fast peter.
  2. Re: Stepper Drive DM542 Red LED blinking every 3 sec, Driver always in fault

If anyone has DM542 internal circuit board diagram then plz share. It can be a start point to figure out what is wrong with it.

    Re: Stepper grinding randomly

looks like the signal is getting interrupted inbetween. I am no expert but are you running other process on the pc? This may cause interrupts.

Re: Broken shaft on NEMA 23!

    Hi,

It should work with less torque. This is what I have heard. The magnetic field collapses when you takes the rotor out and it has to be re-established when putting in. The magnetic field is...
  5. Stepper Drive DM542 Red LED blinking every 3 sec, Driver always in fault

    Hi folks,

    Greetings.

I have newly built CNC router with Nema 23 (425) motors and DM542 driver. I have used 2 stepper motor arrangement on Y axis. One of my driver stopped working mid-flight....

Re: Designing a new router called Brevis-HD

    Hi Peter,

can you share your wiring diagram for the whole setup. Recently my one of the drive stopped working and the vendor says its gone. The red light blinks every 3 sec when it powers up....

Re: Designing a new router called Brevis-HD

Keep it going Peter. 250mm is huge shortage. I generally triple check my dimension before ordering of even cutting/machining out of stock. Was bitten couple of time so I be careful.

    keep posting,...
  8. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

One issue I have encountered. Need help!!

while I was machining, one of the Y axis motor stopped. I checked and the driver has 1 LED blinking. It blinks like 1 time every 3 second. I tried...
  9. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

Excellent idea mate. I will be on a lookout for a small lathe 3 jaw chuck. Thanks a lot for this idea.
  10. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

Thnx Peter. Didn't think of it. That's solve the problem.
  11. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

I have been fiddling around with the Aluminium machining. Recently added air cooling and changed the Mak mounts to a better and stronger one. Also to reduce chatter, vibration and tool deflection,...

Re: Designing a new router called Brevis-HD

Good going Peter, came back to check your progress on the machine. what is the distance between those thread inserts? I kept it about 7cm and I still sometime can't fit my work.
  13. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

Forgot to update. Got my MAK after 22 days after lot of push and follow ups. They didn't charged me any penny. The router is back to life and working nice. I will have to make new mount thou to do AL...
  14. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

    Hi Stuart,

The ball screw was bent slightly at the middle and could have fixed it by mounting it in the lathe and then pulling it one side to counter the bent. But I got a replacement ball screw...
  15. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

So the dismay continues. Its been 2 weeks since I sent it to the service center and I am yet to get it back. The service center keeps tossing surprises. I learnt that they don't have field coil for...

    Re: bolt frame build

Beautiful it looks. the long shiny aluminum plate. Big long router fascinates me. May be someday I will build one too once I have enough experience and space available.

    I visit this forum, read...
  17. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

The clamps were horizontal as I mounted. I will do as advised, inclined and bolt moved to center to have equal pressure on both ends. I see the Z plate on which the route r is mounted is thin (10mm)...
  18. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

Do you suggest something like this?
  19. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

Since my mak is away and is not coming back till wed, I am fine tuning the router setup and making some changes. One thing hit me is if the tool got loose and it applied force on mak which later got...
  20. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

    Thanks peter.

The calculation make sense to me and at the same time gives me some idea on how to machine and what to expect. 0.3mm DOC was me being conservative or say uncertain as this was a test...
  21. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

My tool bit was not long, so out of necessity I had not inserted it too dip. If this happened due to tool coming loose, may be when I changed the tool mid-flight I didn't tightened it to the required...
  22. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

The collet they give here is 6mm and 8mm. My 1/4" shank tool doesn't go into it. Only 6mm would go in 6 mm collet.

On feedrate, I checked it was 500mm/min in solidworks setup and I was running it...
  23. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

Thank you Mactec. I got that shorted out.

But a new problem came to the fore. Screwed my Makita Router. I was test cutting the aluminum at 0.3mm depth every pass at not much high velocity...
  24. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

Hi Loy, you can create a thread specific to this to get right answers.
  25. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

    Hi Mactec54,

You mean, to mount in lathe between center and then use jack underneath to remove the bent? is that safe?

I have been experiencing few things while I am learning the mach3 and the...
  26. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

Damn!!! I was having misconception then.
  27. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

Unfortunately I don't have these. sometime back I had planned to make a press using bottle jack to fit bearings and similar application. The project didn't start but i do have 5 ton press lying...
  28. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

I think I made some mistakes in loading the balls in the screw. The screw is gripping which is causing wobble. witch hunt continues.
  29. Yes, I believe you are right. I loaded all of...

Yes, I believe you are right. I loaded all of them except one ball. It was lying around and I couldn't see it untill I was done. But that ball screw nut is on z axis and is happily turning well.
    ...
  30. Re: CNC router build to machine wood and aluminium (1mX1mX0.4m)

    More info:

I pulled out the screw and mounted it in lathe to see where is the issue. The screw seems to have a bent in the middle. The point where I kept it in chuck and machined is still at...
