Bob,
The rated HP is really only available at or near top speed on most drives - what about converting the HP rating to a max torque rating (or max available HP at the chosen spindle speed) before...
Cliff,
The Mach3 config page has entries for spindle step and direction, but nothing obvious for PWM. I assumed that step might work for PWM and it did. Its on Port 1, pin 14. Mach won't let...
Here's a manufacturer of eddy current dampers: http://www.cda-intercorp.com/products.cfm?cid=5
They probably cost the earth - there is a picture of a sattelite on the cover of their catalog.
If...
Mariss,
Look at it using electrical equivalents, which makes it easier for me to understand. Say its a series LRC resonant circuit:
damping ratio = 1/2Q = 1 for critical damping i.e. just...
If you can tip it up on its left end, it won't leak.
Will the damping have to be retuned for different motor inertias or can you overdamp it to tolerate various resonant frequencies?
George
Thanks for the hint, Mariss. I doubled the filter gain and now its working properly with an output range of 0.5V to 10V.

I've been playing with my new G540 on the bench before installing it in a machine and am very imressed with the stepper drive - you get a lot from a little box.
Unfortunately the spindle speed...
Marcus,
Does this discount apply to the G540 and what discount code should I use for a web order?
Thanks,
George
