Yes, Dolphin Support is absolutely right. It's super-important to have backups, and in my case I was lucky I did.
Just to clarify for the other users out there, my machine had WinXP SP2...
Yes you have been very helpful. That's why I pointed out I wasn't flaming Dolphin support. But I strongly suspect that this is not the expected behavior of reinstalling software from original media...

This is not a flame regarding Dolphin support, but this is an actual, 100% truthful situation I am having with their software right now. I highly encourage any user of a previous version of Dolphin...

i know a fair amount about sound... a lot more about sound than i do cnc which is why i sold off my cnc router and outsourced my cutting to someone else!
the sound you're getting is mostly...
solodex speaks the truth...
first off, you won't build a highly accurate, 120" router for anywhere close to $3500. the cheapest way to go would be to buy a 5x10 router, but even then it's going...
If you want a router that is almost guaranteed to work, in that price range, it almost has to be ezRouter - OR buy a used machine that you can physically see run and cut with your own eyes.
My...
If the router really does what it says, for that money, it's not a bad deal. But i would NEVER buy it without seeing it run. End of story - no discussion. Fly out to his shop and see it cut with...
doesn't look like everyone necessarily shares that last opinion...

Chad,
Thanks and I'll contact you tomorrow to talk through it more, but I think your comment about "you make the outside shape and do an area clear..." indicates that I didn't explain my question...
First off - I'm not sure if the title is the best way to describe my question, but bear with me. Second - I'm not the worlds best Dolphin user, so again, bear with me.
Imagine I have a very...
30 ips is pretty slow, and 24k rpm is pretty darned fast. You're torching the bit. So yes, I can almost guarantee that you are doing something wrong, not the bit... but don't feel bad because...
I'm not sure if I fully agree with Gerald_D, but he is speaking from personal experiences that I will openly admit I do not have. I do not own a ShopBot, I chose to go with a custom-built machine...
I don't know a lot about the data or metrics of wood stability, but I am a guitarist (bassist) so I do know something about the woods mentioned here as they are often used in guitar necks. I can...
My opinion (and it's only mine, and most people on this forum probably think it's a pretty lame one) is that the speeds, steps, resolution, etc. are too abstract, moderately confusing, and in MANY...
Nice post Raven - no machine is perfect but i think some of the comments about your product were a little too casual and, in some cases, disrespectful. As for me, I wouldn't mind trying one out.
...
a few additional thoughts...
1) a 4x4 machine is probably too small for production cabinet making, which has already been pointed out, but would be great to learn on
2) you could absolutely find...
My opinion is that the idea of building your own machine, while seductive, ends up being way more expensive and time consuming than most imagine. If your hobby is CNC, then build it. If you're...
ok so a few points...
for the sake of these comments i'm going to assume you would use 11 or 13 ply birch plywood, not the cheaper grade stuff.
plywood and mdf are both going to react with...
i dont have any firsthand knowledge of the company, but based on other threads i've read here and elsewhere i would expect the product and/or support experience to be less than fantastic.
i would...
do you have experience with cnc routers already?
Have you seen this thread? The machine shown in your ad looks a lot like the one from this thread. The eBay listing is no longer active but trust me - it looks like this one.

My advice would be to really try hard to remove any obstacles from being able to easily purchase, receive, setup and initially use the machine in your shop. Even if you have to use more money (which...
I'm not sure about the 15 feet thing... I know run lengths can get really weird. But here's what you can do about the computer.
Tell your computer friend to make the computer dual-boot. The...
Rough story... here's my take as a person who's worked with WAY more contracts in their life than anyone should have to.
Unless you have other people who can verify the "3-5 weeks delivery"...
I recently went through a very similar thought process. I did an insane amount of reading and research (almost for one year) before deciding to buy instead of build. Once I made that decision I...
Just be careful with the screws if any of the flat surfaces (the parts with the screws in them) are going to be used for horizontal surfaces (like a table top). No matter how carefully you drill...
