I have been reading up on Artcam Express. Seems pretty awesome. I was considering VCarve Pro for inlays and vcarving, but this software has that for way less $.

Artcam Express is now $150. I don't know if it's really fair to compare it to Aspire...
I am sure Aspire is a great program. I just can't justify spending that much as I am a hobbiest. Even VCarve...
How is it half the price? Maybe if you add a bunch of modules you wouldn't need for sign making?
Yeah, I know... Just buggin' ya...
Let me know when you have a model with a 4' x 8' cutting area...
I saw your other post mentioning your Banduras. Pretty neat!
Of course, I am partial to the electrically distorted variation of stringed instruments...
No doubt. But you could make it work for whatever size wiring and breakers you have in the drive's setup. Anyways, my point was more that you can get VFDs that work on 110v.
edit: one these:...
Found one (if I read the page correctly...)
3KW 110V Variable Frequency Drive VFD Power Supply for CNC Spindle
It is quite possible to get a 110v single phase VFD. Just can't remember exactly how big they are available... I am pretty sure at least 2hp.
I'd say 1.5 hp is about all a 110c 15 circuit can handle. VFDs (or inverters if you like) are available I think up to 3 hp with a single phase 110v supply (going from memory). I was considering going...
lol
Knowing you George, you are working on a way to lengthen the day... If you figure it out, please only do so for Saturday and Sundays!
I waited a while for mine, but you forget about that soon after you get it! I am certain I would not have a CNC if it was not for George.
I hope you are not referring to my comment, as George knows I am joking...
One good thing about working for George, is he probably wouldn't complain if you were late with something. (Or at least he shouldn't...) ;)
Viper sounds cooler though...
When I bought my Xzero CNC, they didn't even have names.
Pretty cool!
I think DeskProto will handle a 4th axis. I am waiting for it to go on special again.
Man, are you the guy that is holding everybody up, driving around in a vehicle full of CNC parts?
You just described the XZero forum...

lol
George's completed machine is much cheaper than his competitors. And of the few competing machines I have seen much better quality. (I don't really see the point it listing them, but I can...
I believe I checked this software out when I was researching CAM options. I think it's OK if all you do is profiles, I am not sure about pockets and such.
For me Cut2D was the best option, and...
Man-o-man, that is sweet.
I'm glad you could take advantage.
I set the extra one I bought in my router table with a trimming bit to take off tabs left after cutting on the CNC.
I would have thought the machines are duty/tariff free since they were made in North America.
lol, now you have an idea what we deal with every time we ship something from USA to Canada!
I think the catch with lowering the declared value is that should they break it, or lose it, you will...
You must not have things shipped to you in Canada.
Read the fine print.
Applies to U.S. delivery addresses in the 50 states only, including Alaska and Hawaii. Geographic shipping restrictions...
I forgot to post the link
Hitachi 11A Router | Canadian Tire
I got mine from George, he had a whole stack of them at the time.
For all the Canuckleheads in this thread...
Canadian Tire has the Hitachi M12VC router on sale for $149 for the rest of the week.
I am using one in my XZero CNC and bought another for my router...
It's not fair to call George a liar. I believe he may have been overly optimistic on how quickly things would get done, and trusted the word of some of his suppliers too much.
Look at that huge...
The closest thing is the XZero forum:
