Re: Looking for a new spindle

You don't derate the spindle. You derate the VFD. The derating is for the input side (of the vfd). I.e. To stop you overloading it's input circuits with more power on fewer phases.

    You set the...

I remember that feeling. Don't get stuck in all the conflicting info. It's actually very simple.

Re: Looking for a new spindle

Exactly. I was providing one example of why the statement "there's no point in larger motors if you don't have 3ph power" was not accurate.

Larger single phase motors wouldn't exist if they...
  5. Re: Cheap vs expensive collets and nuts for aluminum surface finish?

I don't have any expectations of perfection (especially not on a sub-2000lb diy machine).

It's really more about not adding additional problems.

People running small belt drive spindles may not...

Nema 24 do not fit nema 23 mounts. I used NSK linear actuators for my first build and they came with Nema 24 Yaskawa AC servos.

Re: Looking for a new spindle

Our spindles can be run on either 220v or 380v. If you look on the inside of the junction box (where you connect wires to the spindle), you'll see six screw terminals with some of them joined by...

I don't remember seeing any VFD inspectors when I lived in the UK.

Re: Looking for a new spindle

Almost all VFDs are 3ph input even if they advertise 1ph in (or 1ph or 3ph in). That includes those HY VFDs.

Almost any 220v 3ph VFD can be run on 1ph 240v. That includes the ones I sent you...

That PDS ADEV 90 is a manual tool change model. They do make an ATC version but it's closer to $10,000. The one in the listing is ER25.

Hiteco, PDS, Colombo are all broadly comparable. Hiteco spindles are cheaper than PDS and Colombo, especially on the ATC side but I'd be happy with either.

Re: Looking for a new spindle

  23. Re: 4.5kw Chinese electric fan cooled ATC spindles. Anyone here have one?
