    It sounds like your mirror mounts are not positioned properly. Ideally the beam should not, rise or fall from one end of travel to the next. Likewise it should not move left or right.

    I have had the dual line problem before as well. It turned out to be the alignment of the final mirror into the focus lens.

    I have cut MDF, but have found that it is not a good material to use with a laser. I have a 180W machine. The heat thatt is generated make MDF a poor material, backside burns badly.
