Why not add an L shaped stiffiner to the sides?
Try using a 50-50 mix of dish detergent and water as coolant. Just brush it on

I have a homebuilt 20x40 router, and a small homebuilt kill. Heading to the beach tomorrow, maybe we can get together and of the month?

Otherwise, on the right side of each axis DRO, you can set a scale factor. Just remember to set it back

I would recommend ply for the skins it is more stable over time and much more robust as you fasten and remove things on it mdf or particle board will do for the ribs but glue it won't nail if you...
A bucket and a tube?
Inkscape is free and has a very good raster to vector converter. I understand it even has a cam package
Hickory is a good place with very few 'bad' areas. The south where I live is called Mountain View and has a lot of good developments in many price ranges. The north part(where my daughter lives) is...
I live up in hickory in the SoFo district( you know, south of forty😀). Foundry, woodworking, homemade CNC running mach3.
Cast 6061 will not have the same characteristics as bar due to it not being cold worked. As cast it is brash and works poorly. You can improve it greatly by heat treat. Six hours or so at 400 to 450...
Check your rigidity and backlash. At 6 mm the forces on the bit are at least double those at 3mm and it could be distorting the entire machine.
Dave
Vcarve works great with mach3 I use the generic gcode processor with the .tap extension. While AutoCAD is more powerful as a cad, I find vcarve does almost everything I need. I haven't opened my cad...
They should work fine, but use too many bearings. Look up the skate bearings on conduit threads. They work very early
Well and are cheap and easy. Many will say you must have 'real' linear bearings...
Use a little coolant, just water will do, a mist is best. I cut at about 8ipm at at 15000
Dave
This looks fantastic,thank you
Really? You are comparing aluminum and paper mache? I wouldn't even know how to start.
Had a bit of trouble sleeping there, did we adamjohn?
Single edge engraving bit, cool it with air and water mist. Otherwise cool with 50-50 mix of water and dish detergent
Carbide bits will cut most anything. I use them almost exclusively in 60,40,and 30 degrees. It comes down to feed and speed. In wood and polyurethane plastic, I run at 30 in per minute at a max depth...
The holes are prob for lightening. Also, the kits are/were cut on a CNC so they were easy. If you are cutting by hand just omit them but make sure they are not a pass thru for a lead screw etc.
Dave
You need a lube-coolant. Try a 50-50 mix of dish detergent with water. Slather on the acrylic before cut, keeping it wet it will make a world of difference
Dave
Subdivide your box into multiple compartments. As you cut thru and lose vac shut off that compartment so the others still have vac and hold the sheet
Dave
Are the lines equal depth? Up or down? Random? Do the dishes all occur on the same side of the path? It still looks like a tram issue to me. Oh, is the field being cut diagonal or straight? Could...
What size serf do you have? Is it bigger or smaller than a peon?
Dave :)
Did you set zero And then move the head? The plot will move the picture in relation to the head. Try setting zero then load the gcode without moving the head out of the way
Dave
I notice that I machining at 12000 rpm is always compared to regular much slower, usually about 3000. What is the difference if both are at 12000?
