That is a beautiful chest. Your great grandchildren will be fighting over who gets it years from now. You are doing very nice work. Keep it up.
What parts from a Joes2006 can be reused to build the 4x4?
thanks,
Doug
Would somebody give me the dimensions of the CNC that I would need to go with my cable chain:) Just kidding..
I think you guys have given me enough information to get these cut. I should be able...
Just checking to see what is your(anybody) opinion of this kit to go on the 4x4? I'm trying to use the 25% discount on ebay while it is still good. Every little bit helps.
thanks,
Doug

Big S, thanks for sharing your ideas. This looks like the way to go.
Does anyone have the file in Vcarve format? I loaded the posted dxf file into Vcarve but the parts were huge and I don't know...
Hey guys, what's the problem? I thought by now we would be having new videos uploaded every day. There were people three months ago that were about through with their machines and were going to...
I finally found a vacuum pump at a yard sale and don't know what to do next. Right now it has like a 1" reinforced hose connected to it. Could I step the 1" hose down to maybe a 1/4 or 3/8 clear...
Thanks for sharing Khalid. This sure helps us beginners build something that is useful and not just play with our expensive toys.

TC, I see that your four pulleys that are on the gantry spreader are side by side instead on top of each other. Do you have any problem where your cables cross each other under the table? Seems...
Outstanding video Joe. Very good job. Keep'um coming.
I am buying parts for your 4x4 a little at a time. I don't see how this one could be much better than your 2006, other than the size . I...
Thanks Ivan. I need all the help I can get.
Doug
That looks neat. thanks
Will do. Thanks again.
That did it. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully this will work. Dust collection is the biggest problem I have.

Doug
Buzz, I might be doing something wrong, but when I click on your link "plans.zip", I get a page not found error.
thanks for any help,
Doug

Think I will hold off making more of the original links till you finish your newer ones. These look simpler and and might even work better.
I am sure likeing your ideas. Keep them coming.

Regnar, Is there a particular reason that you made the track 5 pieces wide? After reading your post, I was making a track and mine is 3 pieces wide made out of 1/2" plywood. Seems to work fine on...

Congratulations, that's 2 pretty little helpers you are going to have. I don't see how you are going to have time to build a CNC with twins.
Good luck...

Bp, I am using the Xylotex 269 oz motors and everything seems to be running good. I run the cnc at 90 ipm and cut usually @ 60 ipm and everything routs fine. At the beginning I was like you and...
If less tpi is better, why are you not going with the 2 start 8 tpi rod or I see where they have a 1/2"x10 5 start which is 2 turns per inch? Both are also cheaper than the 10 tpi 1 start. I think...
If you can find them, the full length threads are better. The bolts I ordered were just threaded part way and I ran out of thread in a couple of spots and had to make some bolts from threaded rod.
Looking good Sparky. I'm glad you have it going your way. Machine looks like it runs very smooth. Isn't it fun to watch it do some actual constructive work?

If you enter the dimensions that I did and then when you run the gcode, the workpiece is like 47.7" on the x and 48" on the y, doubling the length of the y-axis. Y should be 24".
Doug
I just tried it again and the stepover was not correct. I have attached a screenshot of the program. The z-axis depth was correct. Am I doing something wrong?
thanks,
Doug
Buzz, I cut my longer pieces in two on my cnc and then tacked the two pieces to a longer solid piece of mdf(or 1/4" plywood, hardwood, or whatever you have on hand). I then used this to pattern cut...
Welcome, looks like you're well on your way. This all looks so familiar.
