Thanks for your input, gentlemen.
I should add that the encoder is mounted on the ballscrew, and the motor powers the ballscrew via gearbelt. Tach is on the end of the motor shaft.

Good day, everyone.
I am using the original drives and servos on my Tree mill, control is now CamSoft.
I just lost my Z axis drive.
I want a new made drive that will work with my older...
Got my spindle soft limits reconfigured today. The code G28Z0 send s the spindle UP, like it's supposed to! Hurrah!
Thanks for your suggestions, everyone.

Just as an update, I have my tech guy here today, and he got the software limits set up properly on my Z.
STill had touble with my Z axis.
So I sent a copy of the program to Camsoft Tech support....
I'll try the G0 in front of the Z move. That may very well be it.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I am running CNC Lite in a vertical mill, and every time I try to run a new program, I get 'Z axis forward' and the drives quit. What am I doing wrong?
I ran some older programs, and they work....
Karl, I have CNC Lite.
Thanks for the tips on the home macro MACHGO. I must get my software limits switched first before I use it, I believe. Make the UP home, and down -5.5.
Thanks, Tom
Karl, this is what I have:
-----G25
-----G26
-----G27
-----G28
When this command is called, I would like the Z axis to go all the way up to home, or just short of home, whichever is safer.
...
Karl, back to your question on the .fil for G28. I think I would like to proceed by changing the UP to Zero, and DOWN to negative 5.5"
I looked up the G28.fil:
This is what is programmed for...
Karl, here is a .fil for G9:
-----G9
!'Like G01 but Decel to stop
!DISPLAY4 {f*(\73/100)}
!DISPLAY5 {s*(\74/100)}
!RUNTIME \4
!DISPLAY8 \4
Here is what I have for G28:
-----G28
Karl, thanks for your reply.
Before I make any changes to the Z software limits, I want to know if having Z up as 0 and Z down at MINUS (-) 5.5" will cause any problems with the CamSoft control?...
Vertical mill, CamSoft control.
My Z axis home position is currently set with the bottom of the stroke as ZERO and the all the way up as 5.5".
When I hand write programs this works OK, but I...
I found a work-around. I open the Mac.dxf file into "WordPad" on my PC, save it as a text file, and now the PC based programs can open it.
Wordpad adds line feed and carriage return.

Folks, I am looking for some conversion software for converting Mac generated DXF files to PC usable DXF files. Any help appreciated.
Thanks, Tom
Karl, thanks for your help.
.
I'll check my CNC setup.
I will also run a program with rapids in it to see what happens.

Hello, all. I am new to CamSoft, coming from an old Tree vertical mill, which now has a Camsoft control on it.
I am having good results, but am still have much of my learning curve ahead of me.

Thanks, guys. I have CNC Lite, brand new install. I have plenty of time on my CamSoft support. My installer is an electrical engineer, fully capable of circuit design, logic, servo configuration....
Thanks for your Reply HuFlung.
If all the way up is zero, then all the down movements are negative. This makes the most sense to me, and is what I am accustomed to on the old control, but I don't...
Gents, I have another question.
The vert mill is now 'machine homing' very nicely. But the Z axis seems to be operating strangely. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the way the machine...
Gentlemen, thanks for the quick replies. I really appreciate your support and suggestions. As I get more into the fine tuning of the conversion, I will be asking more questions.
I forgot to say...
Good day! I am currently having a Camsoft control being installed on my machine. Excuse me if I sound ignorant, but I am at this point.
Question:

Good morning! I am upgrading my Tree Journeyman 320 to Camsoft controls, and will need to get a PC to run it with.
I am a MAC person, and the thought of getting a PC makes me shiver. However, the...
What I like about the Fagor is that I can load a DXF file into it and develop my program right there at the control. I looked at the Siemens site, but it wasn't very helpful. I may need to contact a...
Hello, all. I have a Tree Journeyman 320. It's so solid and in such good shape, I think it worthy of a retrofit.
I have been looking at Fagor 8055 package. This seems like a great package. I would...
Also, can I re-use my servos, transformers, power supplies, relays, etc? Does it make sense to re-use this equipment, or go for new?
I have the Gibbs System for Cad/Cam, and is this a compatible...
Journeyman 320- convert or junk it?
I have a journeyman 320, wih a Miltronics Centurion IV control. The machine has been acting up, and this control is an obsolete unit, I'm told.
Is this...

Thanks, Al, I just checked them out. They've got something that will work. I may have to correct the radius at the bottom of the brush. Other than that, They'll work. Thanks.

Al, Thanks for your quick response. I have to tell you up front, I am an electronics dummy, and will err on the side of being overly cautious.
