Re: Scoring Glass and Toolpath Solution

I worked in a glass factory for several years that made glass bottles. We had to cut the bottles periodically to gauge the wall thickness. I bought a diamond point glass cutter and used it for a...

Another option for the machine controller is LinuxCNC which is open source (free) and works quite well. I have used it on 4 different machines over the years...

Re: Trying to add rotory axis, need help.

Yes that should allow you to tap off and isolate 2 pins for step and dir for the 4th axis, as well as tapping into an enable pin if used. Nice looking machine!

Re: Can you bolt linear rails to extruded aluminum?

That is what I will be doing with some sbr20 rails on some 50x100mm extrusions. I have done a large machine with much larger rails on some 6 inch square aluminum tubing. The tubing was 1/4” wall and...

  13. Re: Finally starting new build 2’ x 2’ servo, ball screws, THK linear rails

Woodlover, one other note about using MDF or plywood or particleboard. If I were going to build a machine with those materials, I would construct long boxes to mount the rails to. Maybe about 6 or 8...
  14. Re: Finally starting new build 2’ x 2’ servo, ball screws, THK linear rails

Hey there woodlover. Looked at the alibaba link, seems like a great price for what it is, especially the water cooled spindle.

The lengths of the rails in that kit will limit you to about 40” of...

Engraving is often done with a diamond drag bit. Spring loaded so that you adjust the depth of engraving by adjusting the z height. And spindle NOT running.

Try swapping the left and right connections to the y motors. If the problem of not moving on startup moves to the other side, the problem is in your drivers or wiring.
