Re: F360 - spiral toolpath on 4th axis?

You can model/work with meshes in fusion, but just not apply meaningful toolpaths to it. You need to convert it to a solid first; which you can also do in Fusion 360.

Re: F360 - spiral toolpath on 4th axis?

You're not understanding the difference between a mesh and a solid. Fusion cannot machine meshes... so they are not telling you because it's impossible.

You can convert your mesh to a solid that...

Re: F360 - spiral toolpath on 4th axis?

Dislike 360 Design but 360 CAM is unbeatable... so get on board!!

It hasn't been done because as I have tried to explain, Fusion works on faces, not mesh models. Even when 5 axis simultaneous...

Re: F360 - spiral toolpath on 4th axis?

Well... if your processor supports it, then there's no reason why you cant set up a dummy 5 axis and as long as you program your tool position square to the face, form a continuous 4th axis machine...

Re: F360 - spiral toolpath on 4th axis?

lol... now this subject is on my mind dharmic!
Wanted to also add, although wrapping may sound convenient it's often not. The main issue is in 3d wrapping an axis (typically Y) is substituted with...

Re: F360 - spiral toolpath on 4th axis?

This is the correct method. When you post and run on the machine, it will be continuous and in 3D. Just make sure for each index your setup origin is in the correct position/direction. If you need,...

Re: F360 - spiral toolpath on 4th axis?

Fusion 360 has full 4th indexing (positional) support, 3 + 2 5th axis (positional) support and 5th axis simultaneous support.

Re wrapping, it doesn't make sense to wrap on fusion as per my other...

Re: F360 - spiral toolpath on 4th axis?

I think you need to understand more how fusion works... which is on SOLIDs and not MESHes. So as long as you have a face or edge on a cylinder you can machine it. Both the examples you gave can be...

    V10 I don't know...

Like most I received the free upgrade, and then the follow up "our mistake" email. It's started me thinking at $US175 Vetric needed this upgrade to be free.

    Understand software development costs...

Re: Spare time for CNC machining

Lol. So you're like 99% of remaining machines shops in this country then! Last month I was speaking to the CDIC rep and he was saying so many cnc shops are totally desperate for defence work...
  11. Re: Noob looking to get into CNC with a 6040/6090 machine

    Agree.
There is nothing suitable for aluminium in your price range on AliExpress. A mill drill will give you the strength and rigidity... but not spindle speed. Unless you find some more dollars...
  12. Re: Manual - Tool Change Macro (M6Start) Always at home position

    A macro? What for..
This question is way too broad. What CAM are you using?
Most decent 2.5D + CAMs will support a goto command. They will also support a tool change position...or you can simply...
  13. Re: Must I Buy Fusion 360 For This? Or Can Vcarve Create This Model?

SharkCad replaces Fusion 360 design workbench.
I picked up on this thread because I so wish one CAM package could do all my needs, but it cant. For milling I use Fusion 360, for rotary wrapping I...
  14. Re: Must I Buy Fusion 360 For This? Or Can Vcarve Create This Model?

Well that's better than me!
I changed it to an STL but had to zip it. I use SharkCad for everything... I love SharkCad!!!
  15. Re: Must I Buy Fusion 360 For This? Or Can Vcarve Create This Model?

I agree it is simple part to mill, but disagree with your other comments.
And I don't want to be rude, but your drawing doesn't represent his sketch. See attached.

    Re bitmap and model resolution,...

    I will check this out.

  17. Re: Must I Buy Fusion 360 For This? Or Can Vcarve Create This Model?

What are the right settings for Model Resolution?
  18. Re: Must I Buy Fusion 360 For This? Or Can Vcarve Create This Model?

Of course VCarve can do this... basically any 3d or better cam can do this.

For me their are 5 main differences between the two that dictate which I use.
    1. Vectric is bitmap based, so not as...
  19. Re: New member - Spindle setup Optimum BF 46 with UCCNC

Just to clarify things. The feedback from these motors is a tachometer... it is not an encoder, so forget that idea about rigid tapping. The Optimum board being discussed monitors speed and will...
  20. Re: New member - Spindle setup Optimum BF 46 with UCCNC

Ok forget the KBIC controller!! These drivers are used on the optimum Vario lathes and is useless for what you want.

Depending on your setup you can drive the board with your controller. I use...

    Re: TopTech BF20L Vario

  24. Re: Dolphin V13 - Tormach PathPilot Post Processor

As pathpilot is just a hacked version of Linuxcnc, I would be using the that processor!

There is no reason why Dolphin or yourself can't change the post so on the fly tool changes work.

Re: Extron E320 CNC mill communications.

Hhmmm. I wonder are you a registered gunsmith with a valid licence? My understanding is making any "functional" part of any gun (including paintball) in this country is illegal?
