  1. Re: Upgrades to my 2018 CNCRP Machine.. Plasma time.

Seems such a long time ago.. actually managed to make my first cut yesterday !

  2. Upgrades to my 2018 CNCRP Machine.. Plasma time.

I've been plotting to add a plasma torch to my CNCRP Pro 60120.. and thought I'd share this design and get feedback from the forum.

When using the plasma, I will fab up a protective cover for the...
  3. Re: Avid cnc 5X10 -> 5hp spindle upgrade worth it?

I run servos with a 3.5kw spindle on mine.

Wiring was more complicated for the servos but the vfd and spindle is pretty straightforward - just bigger wire. Make sure you get the super flexible...

    Re: Servos

Am running DMM 750w servos which bolt right into the NEMA34 fittings.

Lots of torque and super accurate once calibrated thanks to the encoders.

The setup is much more involved given each servo...
  5. Re: Opinions on how to move a CNCRP 5' x 10'

Thanks everyone .. did it with pallet jack and a hydraulic lifting table.

Was nerve wracking to try and synchronise the lifting and dropping to not bend the table.

    Will need to replace the...
  6. Opinions on how to move a CNCRP 5' x 10'

I want to reorganise space inside my shed (rotate 90deg and move 4 feet) and was wondering if anyone's got
advice on how to move the table around safely ..

(Ideally not having to take it apart)...
  7. Re: Improving on CNCRP dust hood in Fusion360

    Thanks UG

The spindle is from eBay, and seems to be OK. It's a 300Hz max freq 18,000rpm 3.5kW ER25 which seems to have enough torque. Good value as I think spindles are a wear item in the long...
  8. CNCRP/Avid CNC Pro Ballscrew Z Axis (12") Making Clicking Noise

Yes Gary the clicking is nothing serious unless the green sleeve is so loose that the Oldham collar pops up out of the seat :)

Says the guy who accidentally used the auto zero macro without the...
  9. Re: CNCRP/Avid CNC Pro Ballscrew Z Axis (12") Making Clicking Noise

The green coloured sleeve with the grub screws in it holds the Oldham collar down.. so if the grub screws are tight but the collar is too high from the bottom, then the Oldham collar will wobble...
  10. Re: CNCRP/Avid CNC Pro Ballscrew Z Axis (12") Making Clicking Noise

Check that these grub screws are tight and that the ballscrew ends are firmly located. Mine were loose and they do come loose without loctite.

  12. Spindle question Control spindle speed via UCCNC

I think the VFD will take 110v input

But I’d avoid that whole item on Amazon.
The specs say it is a water cooled spindle but the photo is an air cooled one.

    Generally dodgy.

  15. UCCNC control interface.. pendant or touch screen monitor ?

To avoid going to and from my keyboard/mouse and the CNC machine, I was thinking about a touch screen monitor (23" Acer) mounted on a remote arm on the CNC table, and

  19. Improving on CNCRP dust hood in Fusion360

Thought I'd share my next activity.. I've really been having fun with a CNCRP PRO and a good 3D Printer.

I looked at the CNCRP dust hood and was looking at something a bit more interesting.

My workshop has a central dust extraction system with blast gates.. maybe the fact I was surfacing the MDF with a 60mm wide bit (2mm depth of cut @12000rpm) has something to do with it ?
