That is all I pretty much use are the ER32 holders. Biggset EM I use is 1/2".
I also use Data flute EM, only break them when I do something stupid.
My DOC is .2- .25 at say 100 IPM, lots of coolant...
What is the possability that a magnet is coming loose in the spindle motor itself?
Spindle is in!!
Amazing how quiet it really should be. Took about 2 hours, getting the pully off was the hardest part.
Set the tram, and going to run it in for about 4 hours and turn it loose!!...
Not to sure if I agree with the 1/2 price spindles, most people I called were anywhere from 2k to 3500.00 for a rebuild, not including drawbar, bellville washers and such, 3-6 mo. warr.
I ordered...
Yes the OLD spindle WILL be going back to wesco, just wondering if the swap can be done by me, or better for a tech to tackle the job
I'm sorry,
I am not going to tackle the rebuild myself. Found a spindle with a years warr. for 2400.00 from Wesco.
Just wondering if I can swap out the spindle for the new unit
Looks like rebuilt spindle is in order. Is this a job that can done be by me, or is it a job for a tech?
Having not been that far into the machine, I figure, if I can swap out the ball screws, I can...
Thanks again,
Will look into that
Thanks Neil,
Can this update been done by a NON factory service tech? Or will I need to call the local service, any idea as to the cost?
Take care,
Smitty
I have Advanced motion controls for the spindle drive, will that make a differance?
Hmmm,
Sounds expensive!
I would like to run the SPINDLE MOTOR without the belt, so I can verify that the SPINDLE itself is at fault, and not the motor.
So I have tried the s1500m3.1, but the motor only ran for a few...
Anybody use Setco USA for a spindle rebuild, mine is close to death, looking for options.

Agreed on the scratching!!
Since my 2 smaller machines are LUCKY to handle a 10 in part, it does not move, only the media does, so the polishing is less than desired.
Now for the larger machine, I...
Ok,
Here's the low down.
Machine arrived yesterday, got it wired tonight and loaded with media.
PRO'S
Pretty quite so far, sure does move the media in a hurry!!
Easy to move around,
Nice...
Spoke with the guy selling this morning. My main concern, will the machine do WHAT I need it to do... and that is POLISH using the media I have now, which by the way works simply awesome!!!
Anyhow,...
I have 2 of the Tumbers that Glacern has, very nice machines, just on the SMALL side, they run for over 6 months 24-7!!!
Have traded a few E-mails with the guy on E-bay, seems like an ok guy. REAL...
I have been polishing all my parts prior to anodizing for about 2 years now. The key is to have the correct polishing media!!!!
I use a product from C&S sales out of Wisconsin, and trust me, you get...
No idea, how do I check that?
Mornin Gents,
Have a small issue when tapping. Once in a while, tapping works like a charm, feeds in and feeds out as soon as it reachs proper depth. Other times, there is a dwell at the finished...
Thanks,
Found out later today. Once your in the tool offset section, hit the space bar, that will take you to the tool offsets for X,Y&Z. Adjust as need for the offset you are adjusting, G54(1)...
Speaking of offsets,
How do you set a different tool height for the same tool, just at a different g55 location.
Thanks
Thanks for the advice. Once I get through this winter, might be a good summer project!

When I had the Fadal tech outto help get mine running again, he mentioned that the Spindle motor bearings were the cause of most of my noise. Placing a stethoscope, can hear the bearings then. The...
At this time, just something I was thinking about. I can get you the info off the motor later tonight
Neil,
Any thoughts on this one?
Has anybody replaced the bearings in their Spindle Motor?
Mine are a bit loud, and thought I might give it a try next summer if I can even locate them.

Been a while, figured I'd update.
After working the street corners, stealing the kids allowance money, and begging in general, got it back together today.
What I found was....
The servo that was...
Wish that was the case here!!!
BIG BOOM today.
Installed new Resolver Friday, no change.
Found a local FADAL repair tech, got one from him, same deal.
So, did some digging, found that the servo...
