  1. Re: Use my waterjet for $1.25 per minute | CNC WATERJET

I'll have to take you up on this. Was in need of a big 20" disk out of 3/8" steel and was quoted a ridiculous amount locally. Should I message you for the shipping address?
  2. Re: CNC Fusion Kit #5 Y-axis ballscrew too long? LMS HiTorque/SX2L

I actually ordered mine longer than stock to allow for a little extended travel in the y, a few inches more never hurts. You can cut or grind away the center section just big enough for the ball...

    Re: Hoss's G0704

I have mine set to around 16000 steps/in for each axis, same ball screws in each for an X2. It should not run better in mm or in, you just have to have the right values to represent the same speed...

    Re: Mach3 reversing x-,y- to x+,y+

It seems like you want the axis flipped. Maybe you're looking at it differently, but I thought normally, the axis were assign how an actually graph is, from 0,0, up is positive y, down is negative...
  5. Re: Preturned Ball Screws for Hoss Machine X2 Conversion

I would suggest getting a lathe, just a little harbor freight mini will do. It will be very useful in the future too. You will just need to grind away the hardened surface which isn't too thick and...

    Re: Home shop liability release

I never really thought about it but it would be better to be informed before letting your friends use your shop, you never know, things might turn ugly and they'll want to sue.

    Re: Charter I.H. Clone build

What is your acceleration set to? If thats too high they could stall as well. Once they are up and running its less likely to stall.

    Re: MTW MD001 CNC Conversion

Damn! Wish you were closer. I've wanted a charter oak 12z cnc for a little while now but for that price, I'd definitely get yours. Good luck with the sale.
  9. Re: DO NOT USE THE 5V WALL WARTS FROM KELINGINC!!!!!!

I didn't measure the voltage out of mine but but I did use it to power my c10 and smootherstepper. I do remember it stopped working like a month in to using it so I just got one locally, no biggie

    Re: Martin's RF30 Build

Touche, but I was referring to under sized vs over sized, like the 100oz-in steppers he currently has, not under sized vs the right size for fast speeds and no missed steps.

    Re: Martin's RF30 Build

Nothing wrong with overkill steppers, that's a lot better than under kill for sure. If you want to put those motors to use, you can always build a 4th axis or an atc and use them there, or maybe you...

    Re: Machine not moving

The g-code doesn't run either? You hit cycle start, and the code stops running? Maybe you're calling a macro that isn't properly set up after the crash so it can't continue? You don't get an error...

Wow, I'm sure that was a massive improvement. Now I just need a welder to do something similar. How did you mount the z column to the square tubing?

Re: need a basic m6 start macro

Re: need a basic m6 start macro

There is a good one I found on YouTube.

I will post the link up later tonight.

Its simple and works very well, I did have to add the tool offset to it if I recall correctly. The macro will go...
  17. Re: Question on backlash and if it's possible to compensate

Backlash compensation should also be used at the end, when you've made sure there are no other sources of error, then you will just be adjusting for the backlash in the nut/screw, not because...
  18. Re: Question on backlash and if it's possible to compensate

  19. Re: Question on backlash and if it's possible to compensate

Try plunging a hole with your bit and measure it check the diameter hole its actually cutting. I have found that my 1/4 wood cutting bit/router bit measures about. 2410 and my 3 flute 1/4" end mill...

  22. Re: Not Just Another G0704 Build (not in a good way) YOUTUBE VIDEOS INSIDE

Nice progress. From the posts I've read on Boss's thread, mach4 isn't finished or still has some kinks to be worked out. Mach3 should be fine for a while longer and it's cheaper too.

It would also help if we knew the size you want to machine, seems like you already have an idea, what materials too.

Re: Where to buy quality metric end mills?

Makes sense. I remember why I started sticking with carbide now, I began using 1/8 and 3/16" end mill on my X2 and for some deeper cuts, the larger hss shank than cutting diameter didn't allow for...

Re: Where to buy quality metric end mills?

Why do you say your mill isn't up to carbide? I use carbide on my x2 with a treadmill motor. I can't comment on the metric end mills though.

Re: Spindle signal issues from mach3
