Is a channel in a larger part, or are you actually cutting a part that ends up looking like a channel ?
How is the work piece being held ?
Not to ask a stupid question, but after one endmill...
Perhaps the same way I found out you can drill hardened steel vice jaws ????:o
Thats pretty close.
You can also multiply the radius by .707
.005*.707=.0035
I used to machine SiC reinforced Metal Matrix Composites (70% SiC). The matrix was a high silicon aluminum.
Dont know how similar the application is but ....
We started out using Diamond...
Are you turning or milling ?
STL consists of polygons (triangles) that approximate surfaces.
Iges is prolly' the safest route. Depending on the softwares involved and the part geometry, you may want to request that you get...
A shop I was working at had the Intercim product and it worked pretty well for 5 axis. I didnt do the 5ax programmin but the guy who did was able to create posts in intercim that worked well. He...
You need to "post process" the apt through a post that is specific for your machine. There are several standalone products that allow you to configure post processors interactively and will do the...
Just a couple od additional points to add to Pauls excellent reply.

PCD blanks usualy have a tungsten backing or substrate that supports the diamond. The diamond is sintered with cobalt which is what actually is eroded in the edm process. The wire actually travels...
Ive only used in on a few occasions where pocketing as you suggested didnt work very well. Playing with the start of the contour and tool up or tool down I was able to get Ok tool paths.
Trimmed and backplotted
You can use a contour with multi pass, then create a trimming boundry and use the Toolpath > Trim Function to trim the toolpath to the boundry.
I had some 4340 alloy steel parts around Rc45 with rolled threads.
We subbed out the thread rolling however.
I think the MPFAN post should do fine taking care of the timing calculations. Make sure you show us a part when you get it going. :)
Eric,
Dont know what version that post is, but the V9 MPFAN.pst had a tyopo in the text as you pointed out.
it should read 0= no, 1= yes
An easy test for this:
Create a test program.
Eric,
If the control supports it, a G93 usually commands inverse time Feed Mode G94 is called to return to IPM feed mode.
Here is an explaination from HAAS regarding inverse time feed rate.

Eric,
From what I remember of that post you emailed me before it seemed a bit hacked. Probably fine for basic 2 axis stuff. In the long run it would be best to start with a similar format...
Depending on the post ...
It will probably be output as A axis in degrees.
Is this that TurboCNC post ????
Try the fanuc post and see what the output looks like. Your post may need some...
Hey Jon,
Figured I would jump in here.
I was using Smart Cam Dos just before they came out with tthe windows version. I used it for approx. 2 more releases then changed jobs. At my new job I...
MasterCam can toolpath the part in several ways. Probably would use "Surface Paralell" which follows the selected drive surfaces. You can use a "pencil" toolpath to provide high quality definition...
