    CNC mill stopped working

My K2-CNC stopped responding to Mach3. Last night when I was finished for the day I sent the router back to its home position using Reference All Home, which is what I usually do so the table is...

    Re: Soft Limits

    Craig,

I thought the Z travel was 5 inches on this machine, but it seems to be a bit more. I reset the Z SoftMin to -5.25 and that seemed to do the trick.

    Another problem solved. On to...

    Soft Limits

My K2 KT3925 came with the Homing/Limit switches installed at the far right XY corner and top of the Z of the machine, so when doing a reference all home that becomes the 0,0,0 machine coordinates. ...

Re: Random limit switch false trip

    Jim,

Well I cleaned all the contacts with 2000 grit polishing paper and electronic contact cleaner, reseated all the connections in the Servo.... so far so good. It has been up for 4 hours with...

Re: Random limit switch false trip

Very strange. I can pull the parallel cable out both with the Servo controller on and off and it doesn't trip the limit switch error. I going to leave the cable out and just let the computer idle...

Re: Random limit switch false trip

Just another piece of information. I noticed even with my Servo control box powered off Mach 3 eventually reported that a limit switch was tripped. Could this be trigged by something in the Dell-PC...

Re: Random limit switch false trip

Thanks Al. The machine ran fine when new so I would assume at that point in time it was grounded/shielded properly. Nothing had changed in terms of equipment when this showed up over a year ago....

Re: Random limit switch false trip

I replace all the limit switches. I have ordered a new parallel cable to try to eliminate that. If it is in the control box that will be a bit harder to figure out. I have not been able to get it...

Re: Random limit switch false trip

Each switch is separate. The ethernet cables that connect to the encoders also carry the power to the limit switches. They go directly into the K2 servo control box (This system came all setup,...

    Random limit switch false trip

I am hoping someone can shed a bit more light on this issue. I have been struggling with this problem for quite some time, and now that many of us have a bit more free time I was hoping to get some...

K2CNC Servo Motor twitching when idle

K2 users, I have a KG3925 (parallel interface version) and the Servo Motors seem to twitch when idle. You can hear the audible intermittent noise and if I put my finger on the Z axis motor belt I...

It did not eliminate the problem completely, but the frequency is much, much less. What would you like a picture of?

Re: K2CNC/MACH3 stops in middle of job

Thanks, I am sure it would be a good idea to make sure all those cables are making a good connection and are secure. For me it was X-axis that would show up being tripped on the diagnostics tab. ...

    Thanks!

Do you think this EMI/Surge protection would do the same thing as the EMI filter?

Re: K2CNC/MACH3 stops in middle of job

    Russ,

Looks like you shield just about everything. On my K2 the 24V DC power cables to the servos don't look shielded and they are running along side the data cables. That is they way it came. ...

Also I think I will need 3/8" rather than 1/4". Measured the cable and it is bigger than 1/4" diameter.
