I think peace and calm is close, your depth of cut was way to deep, I've run a face mill, with carbide inserts machining tool steel, It worked it was hard on the inserts, but did the job. So more...
You may want to offer more information to your problem, What tool speeds feeds? What finish are you trying to get? What finish do you have now? I would add alot more information if your looking to...
Well what Rob was saying I havn't had any of those issues, Our machines don't sit idle for that long, When was the last time the tank was cleaned, are guys spiting in the machine, washing there hands...
I agree with HU, I would peck drill, and I would use a carbide drill bit, I have had really good success with carbide drill bits, and in alum. they last a really long time.
Good luck
I use valcool here, I don't know what they run in price for 55 gal drum, but I have used I would say at least 5 different kinds of coolant, and I haven't seen much of a difference in the brands.
I have never heard that, and have used those rags at every shop I have worked at..
So I don't think that is true..
I wouldn't worry about it I have been machining for over 10 years and I have had that happen to me a few times, it kinda depends on the machine, I ran one when the power went out it crashed, no good,...
Well to start with if you think building a lathe from scratch won't be that hard, I think you have a rude awakening coming. Personally, I would find a used lathe and start from there. Even if you...
fastenal, MSC, are 2 other companies you could try..
I would talk to some tool reps around you, with what you are talking about I'm sure you can get a deal, buying that much qty.
depending on your call outs, I have used an oversize tap to get some forgiveness, How big of a chamfer do you need can you knife it out just enough to take the sharp edge, or do you need to meet a...
Why don't you look into a used CNC machine that already works rather then spend all the time and money in building one. I read alot of people building there own and it is probably a fun project, but...
Let me know your questions I will try and help, I've been to a few shops and have worked on many different parts over the years, through maybe not quite as big as what you were working on, my biggest...

Ballnose is a good idea, like dertsap had said, with what tooling you have 1 thing you could try is don't take such a deep cut, go down 1.5MM then drop to finish depth.
I have never wore a mask for coolant flumes, I would agree with these guys get some better coolant, and don't have to worry about it, I hate wearing those masks personally,
Hey there Lucky,
I think you will have more luck if you tell a bit more about what your trying to do. Your message could mean about anything.. Are you building a CNC, trying to make a part on a CNC?
Hello,
Well I would talk to different reps. to see what will fit your needs best, id call serveral to see what options you have, though I would not build one, I read alot of people building there...
