Let me know the stepper motor #s that move the gantry and we might be able to tell you the drive you need for it. I'm almost 100% sure a g540 would take care of all of them plus you would have a...
Good for you! That's a good price for the controller. Just make sure to upgrade the firmware and if you need help wiring it up, just ask.
How much did it set you back and where are you located?
The nice thing about the g540 is that it is 4 axis and you could take the drive apart and replace individual driver boards. You would get more speed with servo motors, encoders and drives but the...
If you use vcarve pro then you should export in ai (adobe illustrator) document. Laser cad keeps the original size of the ai doc and automatically converts the English measurements to metric. We use...
You don't want to use Mach to control a laser. It's not really suited for the quick on/off signals that a laser needs. I would suggest a trocen "anywells" 708c DSP laser controller. It will be able...
Funny you mention davincis not working, about 2 years ago I did a full retrofit on our techno davinci. I swapped out the old motors, controller and power supply with a gecko g540 kit from automation...
To be honest with you, I'd throw that hunk of junk away and get a 708c. It is way easier to use and doesn't need a dongle for software and features are still being added. I had a leetro 6515, 608 and...
I get $40 an hour to work and this is at least an hours worth of work to get the parts(including prototyping board), wire the board, solder it and then install and test. That's if nothing goes wrong!...
The CNC4PC solution isn't as plug-and-play as I would like it to be but I'm not afraid of wiring things up. I think I might just be able to use it to actuate an enable pin on the BOB I'm using.

I need to add a charge pump to an existing machine to kill machine movements and the spindle starting when the computer is off. Ideally it would just be a passthrough board with a db25 male on one...
Let us know how it turns out. I have read somewhere that the 1000 tick encoders have trouble with the gecko servo drives, but that was years ago. I read that the drivers couldn't keep up with the...
The best design for a gantry that I have ever seen is on my techno isel lc4896. The screw and rails are entirely enclosed in the gantry and rubber seals the length of the gantry seal out dust and...
Depending on the thickness of the c-channel walls, and the length of the gantry, I don't think it would be a problem. As for machining, you would need to make some jigs to help position the drill...
I like that design!
Yup about spot on. You'll have plenty of power and speed.
I've ordered tons of stuff from them including laser engravers and a 4x4 CNC router. They are trustworthy. I've used 3 g540 kits and they have all come from automation technologies. They are all...
My servos on my lc4896 run at 48v. I bet yours do too. They use encoders on the axis but I'm not sure about the drive motor.
Jump on that!
That is about the same price I bought mine for about 7+ years ago directly from techno. I bought a lc4896 super cheap with out the card.
My lc4896 uses the same servos! They don't seem powerful...
Your right they still are in business but not the same as before. Now they hawk Chinese junk instead of the good German/American parts and designs they used to sell.
The only people that I know that would have a card would be ArmorCNC. I think that bought all the old Techno stock before techno closed their doors.
Just replace the motors, motor drives, power supply and break outboard to get Mach 3 compatibility.
I've never done a lathe but I have converted a few routers including a stepper techno davinci.
I have to chime in about the hunyang invertors. I have installed 3 invertors in the past 5 years and they all are running great. I fact I bought a hitachi for school and I think I prefer the hunyang...
You can use bobcats to generate the gcode. Gcode is then sent to the software that sends it to the machine. You have three choices for software that sends gcode. The first and free is the gcode...
It sounds like your laser is loosing power due to heat. Check your cooling system.
Dirty optics / bad alignment
This is Chris from Minisink Valley CSD. I would like to be able to return the favor for the laser you donated. I have quite a bit of experience with Chinese lasers and would like to help out.
Um... You have a Chinese laser, you are going to need to play with wires. Check to see if the red dot lasers' connectors have corroded or oxidized. Give them a good giggle, take them apart and put it...
I think the load rating is from the top down only. I heard somewhere side load is 20%. I have replaced all the original bearings. The plastic parts in them snapped and bearings went everywhere.
