I was running 7,000 rpm, 1/8 burr cutter from amana, 4-5 inches/min, about a 1/4 inch of water over part, .125 thick cf/one pass cut. Sample was drawn as 3" x 6", end result was 3.012 x 6.015.424406
Good morning,
We've recently converted our cnc router, built a water table and added a vfd spindle. Just cut out my first carbon fiber part yesterday. I'm still very new to cf cutting....I didn't...
Thanks jalessi.......I haven't been on here for quite awhile. This site has really gotten huge, ill post pics as soon as I can
Howdy,
I haven't been on this site in quite awhile.......wow has this thread gotten huge. I am having issues with my cp that has all of my drawing/converting software on it. I have a simple jpeg...
check out McMaster-carr
Just start another layer on the vcarve program. You can run your first tool and the machine will stop between layers for tool change, zero your 2nd tool (make sure you lift z off the part), push go...
We've been using a torchmate 4' x 8' for 7-8 years now(hypertherm 1000). No complaints, runs great. Only thing I would change would be to a 1650 to get my thickness capacity over an inch. Right...
Glad to see this poll.......Thanks fer the chuckle. Thought I was the only one. There is a cure for the F'd up blues........happy hour at the waterin hole!
WOW.......that's a "special" kind of stupid. I wonder what he has in mind for the extra credit he'll need.
Another thought for you would be a blanking shear. Much more expensive though.
Mike
We use chop saw, miter saw, and horizontal bandsaw. The chop saw is for rough cutting on steel, stainless. Give or take .1 on the tolerance, depends alot on the operator.
The miter saw works for...
I'd agree with Matt,
However.....that many cuts, with no coolant is going to raise some issues.
Mike
I'd recommend a harder alloy. We have cut some 5052, but a majority of our pcs are 6061, 7075. Lighten up on your depth of cut for everything, and slow down the spindle. Especially the engraving. ...
I'd check out the "share artfiles/ dxf" protion of this site. There are several who can convert images in a couple of hours. Do you have a machine?
Mike
nice work
I agree,
draw your center line for the slot. Then do an online profile/pocket cut. You you might have to give it it's own layer, which should stop the machine after the cut for a bit change. If...
Nice work....congrats.
Pretty much any router system made out of steel, alum. stock, alum. 80/20 will get you there. As far as cut quality goes, you can achieve pretty good results with multiple roughing passes then do a...
never dealt with nestmaster, but i have run into issues when i save a dxf; versus import/exporting files and pack & go. Might not help.....just needed something to do while i'm waitin fer the...
I'd check out the "share your art files" thread on this site. Good chance someone there can either show you how to do it, or will do it for you.
Hope that helps ya,
Mike
Some key words that willl find you a metal shop are: Machining, welding, fabrication, metal art, Aluminum, Steel, Stainless steel
I agree with KCA 324, there are several people/businesses...
We've done quite a bit of that. As mactec said, if you have a picture or sketch that would help quite a bit. I'll attach a few pics later. Busy runnin machines.
Mike
Should be in your configurations section.
Mike
Morning,
I am fairly new to the SW world. I do know that it is much easier to draw each part seperately, then assemble/mate them into an assembly. I'm curious as to how youcan exit the sketch and...
Well.........you're at the right place. There is an enormous amount of info in here........start reading.
1/8"....whoops forgot the "
I would not recommend cutting anodized parts. It can be done, but it is going to look like hell. Your edge quality will be slightly better than horrible, and you're going to burn away at least 1/8...
Is there a "Grainger" store out on the east coast? They are a very large supplier. Any welding supplier should carry or be able to get you that.
Mike
Good morning,
Yep....shipping costs would be steep. If I had to guess, probably about as much as the material and labor combined.
I might have another idea for you. The grilles that I bent...
